Was WV seriously considered in play in 2004? Yeah this does remind me of IA and OH, sadly

I don’t think it was ever considered a top-tier battleground, but what it is interesting is if you look at Atlas threads from that time, a lot of people were arguing that 2000 (when the WV result was really shocking in historical context) was just a blip due to Gore’s environmentalism, and that Appalachia would soon return to a Democratic stronghold.
