An absolutely fantastic actor who has a great energy to him. And he's Rwandan-Scottish so I'm going to be a tad biased Cheesy

I know nothing about him, but I’m excited to see where this goes. I haven’t watched since Capaldi, but I might pick this up again.

It's a shame Jodie got stuck with a crappy showrunner, She's a great actress.

I may try to start watching again now that Chibnall will be gone. Hope that the new season won't need knowledge of the last few to understand it.

I'll give Davies that credit, he was good at making something consistently accessible, if not necessarily good all the time. [Eccleston > Tennant]

As long as the Barrowman gags aren't played up again, and this Doc is less kissy-kissy than Mr. Barty Crouch Jr, I think this will be tolerable...but nonetheless I may pass this up if it doesn't pass muster [quickly] and wait for the 15th or 16th and a true fresh face

Don't do that. Don't give me hope:

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/tv/0/steven-moffat-interview-love-way-powerful-sex/

Quote from: Steven Moffat via The Telegraph
But what does he, as Doctor Who's showrunner for six seasons between 2010 and 2017, think of Ncuti Gatwa, who has just been chosen to be the next Tardis incumbent? "Finally I can admit it," he says. "I've seen the new Doctor in action. Russell [T Davies, who is about to take over the reins of the show again,] showed me the audition tape a while back. He is magnificent: all at once a brand new hero and the same wonderful mad old Doctor we've always known. Trust me, we are all in for a treat."

Some new announcements have been made regarding the 60th, mostly because of leaks forcing hands: Tennant is coming back, as is Catherine Tate's Donna, Bernard Cribbins as Wilf, & Yasmin Finney as Donna's daughter, Rose Temple-Noble, with Rachel Talalay directing. There was a plot leak last week that's now lining up with these announcements, but in the interest of this being a plot spoiler-free thread 'til after episodes have aired, I won't divulge those in here but upon request.

Now bring back Smith and join in Capaldi...not expecting the Antigone duo, since 9 is still angry and 13 just quit.

Oh and if we see the JNT docs, that's cool too. I liked Five-Ish Doctors, but I'd love to see the JNT Docs make an appearance [maybe not Baker, unless he really wants, he's no spring chicken anymore and 4 has done enough]

Not the strongest finale, but pretty decent by Chibnall standards - and very intrigued to see where we're going next...

No regrets for the display name at all.  Barring just going to Ncuti Gatwa, Matt Smith would've been vastly more interesting.

This was just awful.  I'm skipping 60 and hoping Dr. 15 (the rightful 14) ends up being alright.

I wish I had been watching and saw that regeneration happen. I'm very interested in finding a way to watch and see where this story goes.

So the new logo is a retread of the Tom Baker Era.

I guess that's one bright spot after the big insult.

I assume we're building up to a rather overt "stop looking backwards, time for something new" message. Old logo, old Doctor, old companions back for the 60th specials  - with everything burnt down at the end. RTD has never exactly been one for subtly, so that may happen literally.

Presumably ending with Ncuti at the wheel, a new Tardis interior, new logo, new music etc.
Soft reboot territory.

Now that it's being renumbered, it seems this is exactly what happened.

I believe the naming is more due to rights in America as Disney+ doesn’t get the old seasons. But it does help with a soft reboot so we likely won’t get prior references for awhile.

That's stunning, really. I don't think RTD is going to disappoint (though I admit I am biased as a huge fan of his previous tenure as showrunner).

While I didn’t dislike Jodi’s time as the Doctor the writing wasn’t the best and it did feel more like Classic Who which is partially why it wasn’t as liked by modern audiences (besides the bigots).

Tonight’s episode though was a return to that 9-12 feeling and I loved it.
