This is going to be extremely interesting to say the least. As I have very little faith in the integrity of elected republicans I voted for the 11-25 option, which frankly is a horrifyingly high number that basically wants to abolish democracy.

This is just a spectacle this year.

But it sets a bad precedent going forward.  A dangerous one actually, that puts the country on a very slippery slope toward authoritarian rule.  And yes, I'm aware this was done by a Democrat in 2004.

3-10.  When Barbara Boxer did it I think only one did.  I'd say there are more than 3 lunatics in the GOP senate caucus though.

Some potential morally bankrupt dirtbags who I think might possibly go for it:

- Ron Johnson
- Tommy Tuberville
- Lindsey Graham
- Tom Cotton
- Kevin Cramer
- Mike Braun
- Ted Cruz

Cramer has basically recognized Biden as President-elect, and called for the transition to be allowed to begin back when Trump's cronies were stonewalling it.

Johnson would be pretty amusing since he's up for re-election in a Biden state...

And a state that's being challenged too.  He's such a dirtbag though.  He's probably one of the three most deplorable members of the senate right now (and the competition is fierce).

Voted 3-10.  Hawley and Tuberville for sure, and I expect there will be at least one or two others to go along with them.

There's no question that Boxer set a terrible precedent, but it is not quite comparable since Boxer wasn't actually trying to overturn the election like Trump is.

This genie needs to be put back into the bottle before the next time someone wins the EC with opposition party majorities in both houses of congress.  The ECA should be amended to require 2/3rds majorities of both houses or better yet a court decision against certification of a state's results before they can be challenged.

Probably not Hoeven, he endorsed allow Biden's transition to start: https://www.kvrr.com/2020/11/23/hoeven-among-republicans-who-want-transition-to-begin

Difficult to say. I would guess somewhere between one dozen and three dozen, but that's obviously a huge range, with very different implications for the long-term health of our democracy depending on where in that range the chips end up falling.

26-40, and probably angling towards the higher half of that range.

Other than Hawley himself, I'm sure the following will:

- Ted Cruz (TX)
- Tommy Tuberville (AL)
- Marsha Blackburn (TN)
- Rand Paul (KY)
- Ron Johnson (WI)
- Tom Cotton (AR)
- Mike Lee (UT)

Perhaps Little Marco and Flip-Flop Lindsey.

Hawley, Tuberville, Johnson, Paul, Rick Scott, & Blackburn.

EDIT: Maybe Roger Marshall & Loeffler too, so 91-8, with Perdue's seat vacant.

I think a lot of you are really undershooting this.

Why would senators like Thune and Boozman open themselves up to a primary challenge? This is a vote the GOP base will remember.

As has Mike Lee, believe it or not.

What about Ernst and Grassley?

Grassley is up for reelection but he will probably retire at his age.

Trump might retaliate against his grandson in the primary if Chuck doesn't vote to uphold.

Senators who've already acknowledged Biden & Harris' victory as President- & Vice President-elect - including all 4 of the hitherto aforementioned - aren't gonna vote to uphold the challenges, given that they've evidently already determined that they don't think acknowledging them & helping to facilitate their transition is enough of a threat to end their careers.

All of them minus Romney, Collins, Murkowski, Sasse, Rubio, McTurtle, that guy from Oklahoma (IIRC) that said a week after the election that Biden should have National Security briefings, and possibly Cornyn and Thune.
