Do Republicans have a bench here? Maybe a few US Representatives, if you they seriously want to challenge Pritzker? Pritzker should be fine, he has turned out a better governor than expected.

Governor JB Pritzker hinted Thursday that he may not run for a second term, breaking the news even as Illinois is poised to come out of the pandemic and make his job a bit easier starting next week.

We should probably check house listings in Chicago to find out if the Obama's are buying any property there.

Barack or Michelle running would clear the field, and would probably be the only reason Pritzker retires IMO.

That's a shocker, though we have to see whether he follows through or runs again. If not, I can't see any of the Obamas entering the race. Juliana Stratton would very likely get the nomination then and win the election. If Pritzker is out, Illinois could become the first state to elect an African American woman to be governor.
