Let's say they had emerged in the "opposite" state.  I know it'd be easy for an R to win in either, especially Florida. How would Ron DeSantis do in Texas instead of Florida and vice versa???

Both would've won easily enough in 2022. DeSantis would have even less of a reason to be loyal to Trump, and he would essentially be filling the shoes of Ted Cruz.

The real butterfly is Abbott winning in 2018, but I imagine he could do even better than DeSantis did.

DeSantis does better in TX in 2022 than Abbott did, while Abbott does slightly worse than Rubio in that same race.

DeSantis kills any hope of Blexas happening for the next two decades. Abbott performs at about Rubio margins, maybe a bit less.

Gillum defeats Abbott in 2018. Flat out.

Valdez probably loses more like Collier or O'Rourke than what actually happened.

Skipping to 2022: DeSantis probably does about the same, but Abbott probably looks more like Rubio's margins.
