^^ Goldwater didnt run in 1960, not even as a favorite son even though there was a draft Goldwater movement.

Also why is Pete Wilson less electable than Pat Buchanan and Jon Huntsman less electable than Rick Santorum , and Ron Paul

Pete Wilson was too liberal for the base, and he was weakened with health issues. He lucked out in '94 by the nature of the year and the opponent, as he wasn't supposed to even be re-elected.

Buchanan at least could capture the base.


Also, Huntsman worked for Obama and was out of the country, it doesn't get much worse than that.
