Here we only show the name of county which is large enough in cartogram, so some county name will appear and some disappear as time goes.

Hope you enjoy Smiley.

Unsurprisingly, John Kerry (who was then the state's Junior Senator) garnered the highest percentage of any Democrat in Massachusetts since 2000 prior to Biden's victory this year. It was the only state outside of Appalachia where Obama did worse than Kerry in 2008. And it's interesting how over the past twenty years, Massachusetts, while remaining a solidly Democratic state, has paralleled the coalition changes we've seen elsewhere. Democrats have become stronger in the college towns, the suburbs, and Boston, but have lost ground in the rural and working-class areas of the state.

Biden definitely seems to have gotten an Irish Catholic Democrat boost in Massachusetts. A lot of the most heavily Irish parts of Greater Boston had the strongest swings to Biden compared to 2016. Despite Biden having a winning margin 0.08% higher than Bill Clinton in 1996, Trump won a lot more towns than Dole- 53 towns voted R in 2020 but only 8 voted R in 1996. Only one of the eight towns that voted for Dole, Granville, voted for Trump in 2016 or 2020- the rest are Hillary Clinton-Biden towns.

Guess I never realized that a Republican has never won a MA county in my lifetime.
