Who are some politicians that you think that could have been senators by now?

Here are a few:

Sam Steiger

Sam Steiger was a congressman elected from Prescott, Arizona after spending time in the Arizona State Senate. He ran in the Republican primary for the United States Senate election in 1976 after Senator Paul Fannin announced his retirement. Even though he was the anointed one, fellow congressman John Conlan ran against him and even attacked his ethnic heritage. Steiger won the primary, but was heavily damaged. He then lost to Democrat Dennis DeConcini in the general election. However, years later, he got elected mayor.

Doug Collins

Doug Collins is a Gainesville native who worked his way up the ladder of Georgia politics. He was a member of the Georgia legislature and got elected to Congress. Considering that he has been doing favors for his fellow Georgia Republicans and greasing the wheels, Brian Kemp should have appointed him to the seat, but appointed Kelly Loeffler instead.

I think if Patrick Murphy had won the PA AG race in 2012, he could have run against Toomey and won in 2016.

Doug Collins could still be a Senator if Loeffler loses to Warnock.

Huh

At the time it seemed likely that Republicans had held the Senate. Now the picture is murkier, but it's still pretty unlikely.

What is the connection between Mfume and D.C. statehood?

Luther Strange would be a US Senator right now if the media did not sit on the fact that Roy Moore was a pervert until after the primary...

Luther Strange was a U.S. Senator, not a "could-have-been-a" U.S. Senator.

But I think she would lose the primary to Eric Greitens, Todd Akin, or Courtland Sykes.

This is pretty dated now, but Tom Osbourne easily could've become a Nebraska Senator, even as a Democrat or Independent, if he had run for an open seat between 1998-2012. He's way too old now.

Robin Carnahan but OBAMACARE was unpopular
Jesse Jackson Jr, Topinka derailed his Prez ambitions, he would of been Obama heir apparent in 2016.
Maria Shriver, Arnie lead an affair in the last part of the Governorship
Joe Kennedy lost to Market destroyed his Prez ambitions, now Harris is gonna be 47th Prez
