This act hereby strikes any previous law, rider or provision which outlaws or restricts funding in relation to these bodies and the study of gun violence.

Thank you for bringing this to the floor so quickly.

This is funnily enough an issue that was frequently mentioned in discussions about IRL US gun violence; since the 90s amendments to various bills had blocked various public health groups from studying or assessing the public health impact of gun violence.

This was eventually repealed IRL in the last year or so but I don't think we've ever done it in Atlasia; the reason for doing so for me is simple; violent crime and the best response to it needs to have a public health model and it needs to have the best data available. This isn't about enabling taxpayers to be used to advocate or push for a certain policy but ensure that we can let organisations get on with their job- hence the name.

While I believe that the right to bear arms is worthy of protection, the government should not be taking sides by barring research into gun violence and crime. For the good of the public health and safety, this bill has my full support.
