No. One of the reasons he was selected to replace Yellen was that, while he kept her loose-money policies, he was not as keen on bank oversight and wielding the Fed's regulatory powers as much as she was. Hence why someone who is more interventionist is needed from 2022 onwards.

If I was in the Senate and Biden renominated Powell I'd vote to confirm him. But, if I were President I wouldn't renominate him. I look at it how Supreme Court nominees (formerly) were confirmed with massive supermajorities as a result of Senators who disagreed with the nominee's positions and/or ideological leaning voting to confirm them anyway because of their judicial experience, qualifications, and judicial nominations simply not being as politicized as they are today.

No. I don’t exactly like and I don’t think that he warrants another term at the fed. He hasn’t done a horrible job, but Brainard would evidently be a better fed chair, based on her work as a fed board member.

*voted yes on poll however*

Powell chairing the Fed is the biggest left victory basically since the appointment of Volcker 40+ years ago. It would be insane to squander the weight of his credibility even if you could replace him with someone more progressive.

no and don't replace him with anyone

either just get the government entirely out of anything to do with creating money/defining legal tender or make the fed 100% political with congress controlling everything they do and zero autonomy/ability to make decisions

Democrat - Yes. He's largely responsible for the massive amounts of financial growth that we've seen since the start of COVID, and how we navigated the climax of the crisis. Starting my adulthood without a major recession and being able to have my Roth IRA grow quite nicely was great as well.
