Ron DeSantis, I don’t think Trump is going to run again based off of his speech at CPAC (although he’ll probably continue to tease a 2024 run).

Ted Cruz went from being the automatic Republican nominee in 2024 to now being a lame duck senator after his Cancun trip.

Who cares Bob Casey, Kaine, Klobuchar, Baldwin, Stabenow solidifies the 291 freiwall, they all won in landslides., In ,2018

The Rs have to win on D turf, D's don't have to win on R turf

D's are favored heading into 2022 WI and PA and we need NC Jeff Jackson as wave insurance in case GA goes into runoff and we will have 52 seats to bypass Sinema and Manchin on Filibuster

WI Cook plus 1 D, PA Cook plus 2 D and MI plus 3 D

It's Trump until he specifically declares he's not running and it's close enough to the GOP primaries (or far enough in the primaries?) to where he reasonably can't change his mind.

I wouldn't at all discount him telling a paper in 2023/2024 that he's not interested in running, leading most of the media to believe him and discount him, only for him to jump in a very divided GOP primary a few months out from the primaries just to prove his electoral domination among Republicans.

In my mind it's no different from Clinton in 2016. He's the obvious front-runner and unless he says he's not running, the spectre of him running will be enough to make most Republicans hesitant to run, especially if he's circulating rumors that he'll run. Every single Republican notable enough to run knows the nomination is easily Trump's if he wants it.

Trump's obviously not actually running in 2024: he's just teasing his base in order to raise money from (read: grift money off of) them, & in a Trump-less primary, Pence still has the edge as of right now:

The legitimate primary polling which has been conducted thus far (i.e. not CPAC straw polls which are obviously more disproportionately likely to include pro-insurrectionists) still point to Pence being the favorite in a Trump-less primary, so his path is still evident if what you're looking at is real polling & not CPAC propaganda.

Mike Lindell will scoop up much of the would-be Trump support when he inevitably announces he isn't really running - but thanks for all the donations, tee-hee! - Trump's absence will lead to someone nuttier than him inheriting the base. Lindell is in a great position to be the guy.

Ron DeSantis will be the "Trumpian Candidate" of 2024 GOP primaries. I expect the race to be between him and a moderate/non insane candidate like Haley or Tim Scott, but who knows?

I don't know why Trump wouldn't run again. He desires power, more time in the spotlight, etc., and him and his supporters are still pretty bitter about the 2020 loss which they deny is even a loss at all.

It will most likely be Trump if he runs again, otherwise probably Ron DeSantis (whom I am personally hoping is the nominee at this point)

Trump will want to run but be unable to do so due to incarceration. DeSantis will win the primary.

I think it'll be someone relatively unknown at the moment, but who will make a name for himself between now and 2024. DeSantis is the only one I can think of who is prominent now that may have a legitimate chance.

I don't think Trump will run again. I heard his speech, I just didn't see the same ambition/energy that was present pre-2016. He'll continually make threats to run again and tease it, but I don't think he will. In that case, it's between Pence and DeSantis I think, with Hawley, Cotton, and Cruz in a second tier.
