Either the “king of the suburbs” David Perdue or the Unbeatable Titan Ron DeSantis.

I'd love to see Trump just hold a "state of the union rally" concurrently with the regular SOTU and have that be the GOP "response."

I could go with a ridiculous choice like Rudy Giuliani or a safer choice like potential 2024 GOP frontrunner (at least part of the time) Nikki Haley.

In that case I'd probably go with Ron DeSantis.

Presidents don’t give SotU in their first calendar year in office, but they do tend to have an incoming address to a joint session of Congress which is a lot like one

Isn't there still a response by the opposition party? I thought Bobby Jindal (much panned) gave one after Obama's first year address.

Doesn't Trump give one last State of the Union (as it would be before inauguration day)?

He'll presumably deliver a farewell address but no outgoing President since Ford has delivered a SOTU (& even then, that was a combo SOTU/farewell address).

Almost certainly a woman, possibly a woman of color, since that seems to be the image Republicans want to promote now (kind of funny, since they've given Democrats crap about "identity politics" for years) so maybe one of the new House members or Elise Stefanik.

My (completely unfounded) guesses:

2022 - Doug Ducey (English) and Gina Ortiz Jones (Spanish)
2023 - Maria Elvira Salazar (English and Spanish)
2024 - John James (English) and Ileana Garcia (Spanish)

Ford was the last President to give a lame duck State of the Union address, and it has a line Trump may want to plagiarize. "In accordance with the Constitution, I come before you once again to report on the state of the Union.

This report will be my last--maybe--"

Greg Abbott is probably the front runner for this spot.

Maybe Tim Scott or Brian Kemp if not him.
