I don't see Sisolak losing of Kelly is winning by at least 3 to 5 pts, NV goes the same way as AZ

Wikipedia now lists Rick Harrison as a "declined" candidate, though the source they use is an interview from 2020 where he was undecided.

Kinda sucks since he was probably the best candidate the GOP had to offer for Nevada.

The Rick Harrison who is the star of Pawn Stars? Why do you think he would have been a good candidate?

I forgot to mention this when it happened a few days ago, but the GOP primary now has a certified lunatic.  Joey Gilbert is a former head injury victim professional boxer and now ambulance chaser personal injury lawyer whose billboard ads I have seen all over Reno.  He was proud to say that he was at the Capitol on 1/6, although denies that he went inside and hasn't been charged with anything.  Since then, he has started building a small but cult-like following of the typical people you might expect.

Republican Joey Gilbert told an applauding audience at the Ahern Hotel in Las Vegas over the weekend that he planned to challenge Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak in Nevada’s 2022 gubernatorial race, according to a video of the event posted on Facebook.

...

Gilbert, a former professional boxer, said in his remarks Saturday that he believed Donald Trump won the 2020 presidential election and was “still our president.”

...

He positioned voter fraud allegations at the center of his campaign, falsely claimed COVID-19 vaccines were unproven and urged people not to take them. He also referred to the coronavirus as a “plandemic,” using a term that suggests the pandemic was intentionally created.

...

Gilbert has spoken at events in rural Elko and Lander County celebrating local officials’ decisions to join the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association, a right-wing group that believes county sheriffs have a duty to uphold the constitution that supersedes other elected officials up to the president.

He’s worked with local activists in rural counties to rescind mask mandates and filed lawsuits challenging restrictions put on businesses and places of worship to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

He has protested Black Lives Matter, COVID-19 restrictions on businesses, the teaching of critical race theory in schools and the results of the election.

Even being out on the surrounding streets near the capitol without going into the capitol can still count as “participating in 1/6” to a lot of people. I doubt Gilbert will get very close, but maybe he’ll just get the hardcore MAGA “Trump or bust” voters.

Weird.

Hmm that’s odd, especially since she’s only been Lieutenant Governor for about 2.5 years. She seemed to enjoy being in elected office, as she served as State Treasurer and has also run for Congress and Secretary of State. I figured she’d stay as Lieutenant Governor longer, and run to succeed Sisolak in 2026.

That said, I wonder if Sisolak will appoint a new Lieutenant Governor? This probably gives him the opportunity to elevate a preferred successor. I imagine whoever he appoints would run for re-election in 2022, and would perhaps run to succeed Sisolak in 2026.

When is the last time a governor with a positive approval rating on election day lost to a challenger?*

*I already know Maryland 2006 is a good example.

Before that is Ann Richards in 1994.  The most recent Senate example is Scott Brown in 2012.

He also rested all his hopes on going extreme right wing in a state where that doesn't work.  He helped Republicans steal that SCOTUS seat.  Why would any pro-choice voter there trust him to not overturn abortion in the state if he had the chance.  That's not exactly a pro-life state.

I still can't believe he ends the ad with "That's a Governor," what a bizarre political slogan.

Isn't Nevada a mostly pro-choice state?

Well Nevada is really a base turnout state, Republicans have a solid floor of ~46 or 47 percent with just their base votes. Recent Republican wins in Nevada has also generally been low turnout affairs, if Heller is to make inroads it'd be in more working class parts of Clark County, not places like Las Vegas or Reno. The Democratic base tends to be larger in Nevada, which is why they usually win the state, though we can't really count anything out, Heller did win his 2012 race with 46% of the vote and there is clearly some Democratic base apathy towards Sisolak. To make a long story short, he is better off turning out the base than chasing moderate voters. Also don't forget that he has to win a contested primary, where the North Las Vegas Mayor and some Sheriff are already running.

How popular is Heller in the state? Nevada isn't exactly Trumpy, would he be able to win the primary?

LOL holy sh**t

How to throw a fairly easy race 101. How did this guy get the unbeatable titan meme attached to him for so long?

I’m actually shocked tbh as a senator he ran as an inoffensive mainstream R who soft-opposed Trump on controversial stuff. Kind of wild that he’d take a hard right turn like this. Then again, Abbott was the same way / image prior to the Texas abortion and voting laws, so I guess some Rs have just decided not to bother with pretending to be moderate.
