Hopefully this is allowed since I'm just trying to gauge how demographically diverse this board is. I have a feeling that this board is probably whiter than the US given some of the comments I've seen here but less wealthy given the younger age, and I'm curious to see how that assumption stacks up with the results of this informal survey. Vote once for race/ethnicity and once for income.

I'm suprised at the wealth of a lot of posters.

I assumed household income, my personal income is a bit outside of that bracket.

Would be interesting to see the breakdown of poster income between those living with their parents still vs. those with their own household.

I can't imagine people would include parents income if they are in school though, right? That's not the question. I wouldn't even include partner's income when asked about my own. That's not my money.

My interpretation of this question is that the OP was asking for personal income, not household.

Honestly I was initially thinking household but personal probably works best given some may live at home with their parents.

Anyway, as I expected there are literally 0 Black people on this site according to this (flawed and not the pinnacle of statistical accuracy) poll. I'm also not surprised that Asian people are the second most represented after non-Hispanic whites on the board, but I think it's somewhat better that we have a little bit of income diversity. The racial makeup is pretty funny given that we probably see a lot more white liberals and conservatives discussing issues like BLM and have little to no Black input on the topic.

White guy studying a lot and making $0 doing it. Smiley  If you count my girlfriend as part of my “household” because we live together/share expenses, it would be $50k-$100k.  Ideally, in March 2021, we’d move into the $100k-$250k camp.  Oh yeah, and she’s White as can be.

Went with household instead of individual for income, individual income has been roughly $500 in my lifetime. Regardless of what I choose, I'm whiter than a Pete Buttigieg supporter.

I can name at least four (five?) Black users - I am sure there are more - but none of them are especially likely to visit this board. This is also (a bit) skewed by international posters, who overwhelmingly come from Canada, Europe or Australia. But yeah, this forum is pretty White.

My recollection is that students used their parents' income in past iterations of these polls.

It makes sense. As I type this, ~ a quarter of voters in this poll are in $100k+ households... but the median age here is like 19 or something like that.  There's no way we actually have that many posters earning on that level.

Kind of a hard poll for me to answer. I went with non-Hispanic white since that is closer to how I'd be seen despite me technically being Hispanic

For income, I went with my parents' like DC al Fine said. If I went with myself it would be 0.00€

Atlas race polls tend to have a non-response bias among the black posters. But yeah, the US members are disproportionately white and male.
