I say yes. I hope she does.

Nah, her views are still more to the left than right, and running as a Republican in Hawaii is not good for one's political prospects. I could see her sitting as an independent though, and possibly getting re-elected as one.

She’s leaving congress at the end of the year.

Huh, was not aware. Anything is possible then, although I still don't think it's that likely that she'll join the Republicans. I could see her starting her own little fringe party, honestly.

Any word on what she's planning to do in her post-congressional career? She entered politics at 21 and is leaving Congress at 39, I don't see her just fading into private life.

Tulsi Gabbard literally endorsed Biden when she dropped out of the Presidential race. She may be controversial and idiosyncratic, but she is not a Republican and has not shown many signs of wanting to switch parties. If she did switch parties, she would be more likely to join the Green Party.

She's more likely to become the Green Party's presidential nominee in 2024.

I could easily see Tulsi Gabbard being appointed as National Security Advisor by President Ron DeSantis in 2025, so she probably switches parties then.

I'm still a bit baffled as to why people think that Gabbard would join the Republicans.

Is it because of her support for single-payer healthcare/Medicare for All? Her support for a common rifle weapons ban? Her support for the legalization of marijuana? Or her support for a Green New Deal (where the primary reservation she had was that the GND supposedly left the door open to nuclear power, which she opposes).

Seriously, she's not a Republican. Maybe she would be if she was from somewhere other than Hawaii (or, more likely, an Obama-Trump voter), but she's not.

She's also not nearly as crazy as some seem to think. It's pretty clearly an image she plays up.

Her views seem far left to me so not sure why the GOP would want her in the party.

Nah, she wants the cred of being on Fox, Democracy Now, and RT as a Democrat.

No, she'd be an independent at best.

Tulsi Gabbard fits pretty well in the Republican Party of Donald Trump, Tucker Carlson, Ron DeSantis, and Josh Hawley as opposed to the Democratic Party. She should have switched parties back in 2016 or so.

She endorsed Biden and only voted with the president about 20% of the time. It's more likely she would join the Green Party which would make sense with her anti-war stances.

Yeah, this is what I was thinking. The only thing she has in common with the GOP is that Democrats hate her.

But maybe that’s enough nowadays.

She still won't join the GOP, and anyone who thinks she has a meaningful reason to is as dumb as the OP.

Dennis Kucinich, who criticized the impeachment process much more forcefully than Tulsi Gabbard and defended Trump against the "deep state", has not joined the GOP. Let alone Gabbard.

If she has any ambition for future political office in Hawaii, then definitely not. Even if she doesn't, then probably not. Her positions aren't really mainstream for either party, but are more Democratic than Republican. If the GOP were post-Trump to move to be more like her politically, then maybe, but even then, the most I would expect would be a willingness to be in a future Republican cabinet than to join the party itself.
