2000-2004 swing map in Kentucky.



What's going on in that area of Kentucky near the Ohio border? It seems like the swing was similar in the neighboring areas of Ohio:

One explanation I’ve seen is that it is a very isolationist/non-interventionist area, so swung against Bush in opposition to the Iraq War.

Could higher turnout have played a role? 16 million more people voted in 2004 than in 2000 nationwide, perhaps it brought out some low-propensity old-school Dems
