Both of them won by landslides, but is there any substantial differences between their coalition?

I would say Reagan is more middle and upper class coalition while Nixon is more poor and working class

Yeah, Reagan’s was more upscale. Mondale did better in working class, industrial and mining areas and McGovern did better in educated areas and college towns.

The Nixon 72 coalition forshadowed the Trump coalition more than the Reagan 84 coalition did.

I know Mondale did a lot better in the South than McGovern did (while still losing it badly).

Yes. The white working class was more anti-McGovern than anti-Mondale. College towns were also likely less pro-Mondale than pro-McGovern. There are certainly differences in the two coalitions: rural, ancestrally Democratic counties in the south were much more pro-Mondale than pro-McGovern. And MA, for whatever reason, broke for McGovern by about 10% but went against Mondale twelve years later.

Nixon's coalition was bigger even if Reagan's was more efficient

The difference between a 24pt and an 18pt win is about the same as the difference between 2004 and 2008 in terms of PV margin

You mean 2004 and 2020?
2004 and 2008 is a 10 point difference

Nixon won a lot of large urban counties which haven’t gone Dem since like Hennepin county Minnesota, Allegheny county Pennsylvania Queens NY, Cook Illinois, Lake Indiana, and the city/parish New Orleans.

Which haven't gone Democratic since then? You mean haven't gone Republican since then, right?
