If that's true, then Maine has really gone off the deep end with weird voting this election.

I think Maine is a weird state politically in that it's still fundamentally conservative and would go for a Republican Party that was a Rockefeller Republican/Libertarian coalition but since that doesn't exist they settle for a combination of split ticket voting and independents.
