Not counting people like Huckabee or Pence who became pundits after leaving office.

The closest I can think of is Al Franken, and we all know how that ended.

If you count Franken as a pundit, then the answer is "it has already happened" because you should count Trump too.

Not remotely likely without another job in the interim (e.g. Senator). The pundit class is despised.

I could see it happening if they have a large following and a "not like other pundits" persona. It's pretty unlikely, though.

Anything is possible, but I find it honestly doubtful.

Just because Trump won without being a politician doesn't mean any non-politician can win. As a billionaire businessman Trump had an obvious appeal to GOP primary voters (and some independents in the general) as a guy who knows how to cut deals and create jobs. What pitch would a journalist have of why they were fit for office?
