While I'm more than a little skeptical of the Supreme Court test, it did concide with my preference for Justice Thomas and despising Stevens.

Here's a Civics test from the Intercollegiate Studies Institute:

http://www.americancivicliteracy.org/resources/quiz.aspx

I got 96.97% (32 of 33) correct.

Disagree with them on question 33.

Take it and post your results/opinions.

Oh, and there's an article about it at the Washington Post about how badly the American public did on the test.

Here's a new one:

http://pewresearch.org/politicalquiz/quiz/index.php

Here's Your Score: You correctly answered 12 of the 12 possible questions along with approximately 2% of the public. You did better than 98% of the general public.

Here's Your Score: You correctly answered 11 out of the 12 possible questions, which means you did better on the quiz than 93% of the general public.

And I'm British.. rather sad reflection.

First, you score is a good reflection on you.

Second, the normal score is a bad reflection on the so-called 'mainstream media' in the United States which supresses information which is unfavorable to its biases.

Interestingly, the British media is generally better in covering the current economic situation in the United States than the so-called American 'mainstream media,' which is part explains the increase in traffic from Americans online reading the British press.

An example in point is the results of the recent sales over the so-called 'black friday' weekend in the United States.  The American 'mainstream media' made vague assertions of how wonderful everything was (well, they adore Obama) but Reuters had the real data (which I posted in the Economics Forum).

Another example is the blackout by the American 'mainstream media' in coverage of the fraudby the Global Warming advocates.

Not long ago the American 'mainstream media' also refused to carry information on the activities of ACORN.

Well, yeah. I've always wondered why the Americans seem to use the BBC so often rather than their own media.

Actually, I prefer the Financial Times (I read it at breakfast), the Telegraph, the Times and occasionally the Mirror.

I got 10 of 11.  Missed one on "reality" tv.

Oh, its New York Times.

Thanks for the "What Kind of Conservative Are You?" url.

Your Conservative Breed: Anti-government Gunslinger
You are a Faith-Based Fighter, also known as a religious conservative. You believe in Judeo-Christian values, restoring God’s rightful place in the public square, and in showing all the unwashed and unsaved liberal sinners the path to salvation, or at least to the GOP.

You are a Flag-Waving Everyman, also known as a patriot. You believe in freedom, apple pie, rooting for America at all times, and that God gave us a two-day weekend so we could enjoy football and NASCAR.

You are a Free Marketeer, also known as a fiscal conservative. You believe in free-market capitalism, tax cuts, and protecting your hard-earned cash from pick-pocketing liberal socialists.

You are a Values Guardian, also known as a social conservative. You believe in serving on the front lines of the culture wars to restore traditional values and protecting America against condom-dispensing, stem cell-sucking sodomites from Hollyweird.

You are an Anti-government Gunslinger, also known as a libertarian conservative. You believe in smaller government, states’ rights, gun rights, and that, as Reagan once said, “The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help.’”
