It's been just about 20 months since I last took this test and I decided to go back and do it again to see how my views have changed. I have noticed that my views have started trending more radical and generally leftward, but I find it interesting to get some numbers behind that change (even if they come off a silly test like this). The only thing surprising to me is the trend towards "Peaceful" on the diplomatic axis, but I guess it is more looking at international beliefs rather than toward individuals and their governments.

September 6th, 2019 Update, 32 Months Later:

Are You a Democrat or a Republican?
Overall: Democrat / 96% (+17%)
Role of Government: 94% (+12%)
Economy & Jobs: 100% (+21%)

While this quiz does allow for you to signal the strength of your opinions on any given issue through the use of a slider, there are too many options on the slider for it to be a useful indicator (41 different positions for the dot according to my arrow keys). As such, I decided to go with the extremes on each question, fully one way or another, or leave the indicator where it was when I arrived, directly in the middle. For questions where I thought the issue should go farther or disagreed with the premise (Bible study, as well as other religious study, should be offered in high school, but it should be critical analysis, not religiously led), I went with the side that I felt better represented where I thought my view/interpretation would lie on. For some reason, question 68 seems bugged and the indicator will not move and the arrow keys shift the color of the hands back to even. However, it does appear that dragging the indicator does change the color of the hands, so that's what I did. Unfortunately, I do not remember how I did the quiz those 2 1/2 plus years ago, but if I had to guess, I think I did it the same way, so hopefully some sort of comparison can be made.

I think, based on where I'm at right now, there's just nowhere to move. If anything, I feel like most of the questions presented by this now fairly old quiz don't go far enough, leading to some shifts on the margins but no real overall changes. The nice thing is, since I made myself a note last time, I was able to replicate what I did, so this is definitely a one-to-one when it comes to how I answered the questions (most extreme on either side or dead in the middle).

I have basically the same criticisms of the quiz that I had last time - it's too limited and I find myself going far off the left-wing of the quiz. This does represent the highest overall score I've gotten on this quiz I've now done four times. The two most interesting changes were the +8% change to Healthcare and Defense & Foreign Policy staying at 85%. If I had to guess, the health care one probably represents small shifts in abortion views from a more neutral perspective to one of more clear support. As with at least the previous two times I took this quiz, I answered the questions either fully supporting, opposing, or leaving the slider exactly in the middle.

15 months later and I feel like my beliefs are just about the same, but my views (at least reflected by this quiz) appear to have gone ever so slightly back to where they were over three years ago now. However, the only shift that really registers is a fairly substantial shift back towards the nation side of the diplomatic axis away from the globe, and I assume that the small, consistent shifts of the other axes are reflections of that. This is likely a result of me adopting slightly more "conservative" positions on America's role on the world stage, but it does shift the numbers on that axis to the lowest they've been since the first time I took this quiz in 2017 when I know I was much more moderate overall.

Both of these quizzes were made by the same person. I took the Prism Political Quiz first because it was based off the 9Axis quiz and was newer and "better(hopefully)" but I thought the more traditional style of the 9Axis quiz was the better of the two. I did the full 216 question 9Axes quiz, not the abbreviated one.

I took this quiz back on February 3rd on version 2.0.1 but didn't post it and forgot that I had done it before. So the changes may be more representative of the changes across several versions of this quiz rather than any actual changes in personal ideology.

I do not see how anyone can score like above +7 or -7 on Economic axis. Reality should prevent that but oh well.

Well, on the other end, I got -8.25, -5.49 on the Political Compass page myself.

https://www.politicalcompass.org/analysis2?ec=-8.25&soc=-5.49

I don't think I've ever actually taken the quiz on the Political Compass website before. I've always just used the USElectionAtlas one.

Speaking of which, I took that again for the first time in just about four years to see what's changed too:

Economic Score: -5.55 (-1.03 from October 2018)
Social Score: -5.22. (-1.39)

Those scores are the farthest down and left of any of the other five times I've taken the test bar once on the Economic Axis where I had a score of -7.77.

Also, while attempting to find those tests, I found and took the Pew Research Center's Political Typology Quiz and got "Establishment Liberal."

https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/quiz/political-typology/results/?archetype=f2202179d812d2bc0efdab194f28c3be

All of these quizzes are very short (comparably) so I imagine the variation between attempts can cause wide swings with just one different answer to one question, but they all seem to do alright.

"Democratic Socialism"

I took the Detailed (153 question) Version of the quiz. I found it to be incredibly disappointing in almost every aspect. The poor grammar and structure of of the statements makes discerning what is being asked confusing and answering them a convoluted mix of guesswork to interoperate what the maker of the quiz is actually asking. Adding qualifiers to the statements (oftentimes, mostly, ect.) only serves to muddy the waters when answering them and the addition of an extra answer option in the form of "Partially Agree/Disagree" only serves to add an extra layer to that problem. I think that this quiz would benefit greatly from being run through a tool like Grammarly for more coherent statements, removing the unnecessary extra answer option, and formalizing some of the statements to be more definitive about their timeline and meaning.

I think of all the political tests/quizzes I've taken, a result of 70.9% being the lowest of any category is the most polarized of any of them. Normally, even for smaller quizzes like 8Values or 4 Axes, there's at least one category in the 50s and there's always been one or more in the 60s. I suppose that's just natural when taking a quiz that asks stuff like "Is genocide/slavery good?"

Libertarian Communism
Economic Axis: Communist
Equality: 91.7% (-2.5%)
Diplomatic Axis: Peaceful
World: 66.7% (-12.7)
Civil Axis: Liberal
Liberty: 67.2% (-3.0%)
Societal Axis: Very Progressive
Progress: 88.9% (-2.5%)

Democratic Socialism
Economic Axis: Socialist
Equality: 84.0% (-7.7%)
Diplomatic Axis: Peaceful
World: 67.2% (+0.5%)
Civil Axis: Liberal
Liberty: 61.7% (-5.2%)
Societal Axis: Very Progressive
Progress: 84.4% (-4.5%)

Even though the past year has been probably my most politically active, it has also felt the least testing of my views that I can remember. It feels like a lot of my more radical inclinations have been untested and, like a muscle, have receded due to lack of use. That does not mean I am a moderate in any sense, as reflected by the results of this most recent test, but it does show a fairly sizable drop on every access but Diplomatic. If I had to make a guess for a proactive reason for why the numbers have changed, I would suppose that it is in reaction to the war in Ukraine and China's most recent handling of Covid. The actions of these two authoritarian states were definitely in my head while taking the test.

It's hard to even think about everything that's happened in the 19 months that have passed since I last took this quiz. Even the quiz itself has changed: the original domain died and this seems to be either a new hosting site or a remake of the quiz altogether. Interestingly, some axes have seen almost no change (Structure literally remaining the same down to the decimal place) while others have swung by double digits (Intervention completely reversing itself). As I said, 19 months feels out of reach politically, but my best guess is that many of these changes were from agree to disagree or vice versa that rested on weak convictions either way. I am not an economist and, while I like to think that my morals are strong and fairly inflexible, the paths to get there are not.
