Description

You desire substantially less government control of personal activity and somewhat less government control over economic activity than is presently the case in the U.S. I used to classify this area as part of “Moderate Libertarian;” but got many objections; I guess calling you a moderate libertarian is akin to calling a liberal Democrat a “moderate communist.;”

Your views would be best represented by a mix of Libertarian and Democratic representatives—assuming that it was possible to get a significant number of Libertarians elected. The Libertarian Party is still dominated by people far more radical than you though there is an ongoing effort to make the LP more inclusive and less radical. If you have the patience and willingness do deal with infighting, you may want to join this effort. Or, you might find my proposed new party more to your liking.

Approximately 14% of the takers of this quiz scored in this area.

You like your government very, very small—or none at all. You are a hardcore libertarian. Want to run for Congress? State legislature? Join the Libertarian Party and they'll put you on the ballot. The Libertarian Party wins few partisan offices, but it does get the message out sometimes. And it does win some non-partisan races.

Approximately 9% of the takers of this quiz scored in this area, 31% for all libertarians outside the centrist circle.

Surprise Surprise.

You want government out of people's personal lives, but you appear to desire some continued government control over people's economic activities. There is no political party that represents your views. The Green Party does run many candidates with similar views, but the overall Green Party platform is much more socialistic than you are. You would need a mix of Democratic, Green, and Libertarian politicians in office to get the balance of freedom and social justice you desire. The ratio between these depends on how high up your dot is on the chart.

Description

You want government out of your personal life. On the other hand, you want more government in your economic life. This puts you closest to either the Green Party or the radical wing of the Democratic Party. You might even consider yourself a socialist, or a “true” communist (as opposed to the “state capitalists” who ran the old Soviet Union). Approximately 3% of the takers of this quiz scored in this area, 18% for all liberals outside the centrist circle.

Your result for The Liberty Test ...
Clasical Liberalism
You scored 42Positive, 75 Negative!

You belive the state should be limited, allowing individuals to pursue their own way of life without expectations from society. You think a free market and choice on how to lead your own life are very important. To you, liberty is the freedom to lead your own life how you want to and work towards your own goals.

You appear to want significantly more government control in both the economic and personal realm than can currently be found in the U.S. This puts you in the same part of this political map as both socialists, moderate fascists, croney capitalists, communitarians, and some theocrats. Obviously, you have differences with some of these groups, since they disagree with each other. Since this test focuses on the amount of government, it does a poor job of distinguishing the different political philosophies which involve more government everywhere. We didn't properly cover what you want the government to do with all that power.

You can find some authoritarian politicians in both the Democratic and Republican parties. Often, such politicians are described as "moderates" in the press, since they combine the big-government ideas of both the Left and the Right.

Approximately 4% of the takers of this quiz scored in this area, 6% for all authoritarians outside the centrist circle.

Your result for The Economic School of Thought Test ...
Austrian Economist

0 Keynesian, 15 Chicago, 85 Austrian
You are an Austrian Economist. You scored at least 60% on the Austrian variable. Therefore, if you don't know what an Austrian economist is, you at least show signs that you might be interested in going to http://www.mises.org and learning a bit more about them. You likely favor abolishing the minimum wage, allowing free trade and exchange of goods, and believe the government should exert minimum if any intrusion into the free market so that free individuals can interact in a way that makes the realization of the dreams come true. Acting individuals need this freedom so they will reach their full potential, not become dependent, and they need the stability of the rule of law to initiate plans for their own lives across a lifespan. You tend to be more abstract than the other economic schools, yet also more appreciative of the subjectivism postmodernism makes clear.

Your result for The Liberty Test ...
Capital Anarchism

You scored 0Positive, 79 Negative!
You believe any aspect of social control is dangerous and infringes on the rights of the individual. You think that any sort of control is oppressing and that everybody should only be responsible for them self. To you, liberty is the freedom without constriction or control. You own what you want and you do what you want. What others think it not important.

Your result for The Politics Test ...
Radical Libertarian

You scored 94% Personal Liberty and 97% Economic Liberty!
A radical libertarian believes in little to no government intervention for both personal and economic matters. A radical libertarian generally believes in one out of these two options: (1) A government that is extremely small and limited to the extent of protecting people's liberty - this view is known as Minarchism (2) No government at all, in which the private sector takes up all legitimate functions that a government would have - this view is known as Anarcho-Capitalism. Radical Libertarians tend to be strongly opposed to war, police powers, victimless crimes, foreign intervention and what they consider to be a welfare state. Radical Libertarians tend to be inspired by the Austrian school of economics, classical liberalism and 19th century individualist anarchism. Libertarian thought is individualist in nature. They try to protect both personal and economic liberty. Examples of Radical Libertarianism would be Murray Rothbard, H.L. Mencken, Ludwig Von Mises and Lysander Spooner.
