the process is part of what gets them off.  Have you ever seen the look on the face of a white woman when they call the police on a black child?  Pure joy and possibly the closest they ever get to an orgasm.

The people who report posts, I suspect, feel the same kinds of emotions.  Maybe they crave power and this is as close as they'll ever get to it?  Did you ever notice how many people want to be mods?  No pay, a time sink, yet they'll line up for it.  Why?  To get a little taste of that juice.

we should not forget that the mods can delete posts without them showing up as a moderated post.  I've had it happen several times that I know of (and probably many that I don't).  It happened today, which is what made me think of it.

True, I've been awol but I thought I returned to update the sig, but I can't remember.  But it's an Atlas staple which will be here through the holiday.

Haven't yet reported another poster in the past (12) Years on Atlas, but again I don't always hang out in the same playgrounds with many of y'all, and maybe not as uptight or passive aggressive as others.

I suspect folks will generally see less reported posts (and simultaneously fewer moderated posts) now that we have survived another Presidential General Election and people generally tend to chill out a bit more, plus newer posters "drop out" or shift to "lurk mode.

318/106. Had none during my first nearly three years of posting until early 2012, racked up nine in a space of several weeks mostly sparring with Keystone Phil, and then nothing again until 2016.

And then, trumpist morons infected Atlas like coronavirus at a Republican BBQ.

Looking back at many of my infracted posts, they were calling out overt racists in Unapologetic terms. Because remember kids, insulting racists is a far far greater sin on Atlas than posting overt brazen racism that borders on Stormfront material. I got to say, many of those posts.. I just can't feel sorry about.

Couple additional points. First, I am more than anything just plain confused and anymore just respond with a shrug when I get a post in fracking. It seems so incredibly random as to what post do and do not get in fact it that I really can't follow any better guideline than which moderator - - one in particular - - happens to be in a pissy mood that day. I realize this is always going to be a subjective analysis since we have individual moderators trying to enforce less than bright-line rules, but it's just so incredibly hit or miss that I have trouble taking it too seriously to be frank.

Secondly, there's one mod in particular who I suspect is responsible for the tangible plurality, if not outright majority of my infracted posts. I don't respect him or his less than balanced judgment, and could hardly care less.
