To put it very simply, Republicans only get around 65% of the white vote in NC so they don't have much ground to lose where Trump got 75% in Georgia in 2016 so there was a lot of room to fall, Georgia whites this year voted more like whites in Texas and NC, so they converged in terms of voting behaviour, the issue is Republicans need 70%+ of the white vote in Georgia to offset the 30% black vote share.
