She probably only retires if she expects Democrats to lose the House in 2022.

I mean, from this juncture, that looks considerably more likely than not.

I'm pretty convinced she will. She promised to step down as the leader of house dems. You can't lead the dems in the house for 16 years only to step down to become a back bencher. Not to mentions she's pretty old and probably doesn't hate the idea of retirement

Though ngl, it'd be pretty fun to have our own Ted Heath (sans the apparent pedophilia) or Theresa May for once.

The difference is that in a parliamentary democracy backbenchers can still have huge influence.  In the US they would be bored and frustrated after being a big show for 20 years.

Incidentally May, despite being a despiaed PM, has had something of a political rebirth as an elder stateswoman.  In fact the rightwing that wanted her gone has now almost become allied with her as she has aligned with the anti-lockdown right recently (although it isn't a coincedence that she has taken a lot of money from Heathrow Airport).

Sorry, I'm getting off topic.  Please continue talking about 2022. Smiley

Incumbent Mark Kelly gets a primary challenger, writer and satiricist Richard Grayson.

Seems innocent and non-distinct? Well check out his campaign committee's unique title:

"Grayson for B*tch-Slapping Senator"

Of course this will go nowhere, but still the most amusing committee title I've seen in a while.

Former Fox News host Eric Bolling is considering challenging either Nancy Mace (SC-01) or Tom Rice (SC-07).

Literally, I’m from the rest of the district and, even before his impeach vote, he was honestly the best republican we could get as he actually seemed to care somewhat about the PeeDee

Rand Paul says he plans to run for reelection and that he does not support personal term limits as opposed to a term limits law for all.

Mike Lee also essentially confirms he's running by fundraising off being targeted in 2022.

NM-01 special set for June 1: https://nmpoliticalreport.com/2021/03/17/special-election-to-fill-cd1-vacancy-set-for-june-1/

I'm impressed that it's happening this quickly. Compare the NY-27 and CA-50 vacancies from last year.

She's back?

Republicans should run a national campaign about Christy Smith’s elitist law books. Would play well in the #populist  Purple heart RGV imo tbh.

It's the best counter I can imagine to the inevitable Democratic attack ads about Young Kim's homophobia.

OH-16 poll for the Club of Growth : Gonzalez's popularity at -11 among R primary voters / trails Miller

https://www.clubforgrowth.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/CfG_OH-16_Memo_210319.pdf

Uninformed ballot : Gonzalez = 30% / Miller = 39%

When voters are reminded that Gonzalez voted to impeach Trump : Gonzalez = 17% / Miller = 69%

Would love for Mace to be primaried. She's way too conservative for that district.

You do realize he would be challenging her from the right, right?

That, and the district was still Trump +6. Yes, it's trending left, but it's still not exactly a liberal stronghold.

Jose Javier Rodriguez is going to run for FL-27. Not worried about Shalala.

Is this the first generic ballot poll of the cycle?
