The fact that there is a nonzero chance this could happen is really something.

The two have a history, as many of you may know:

Jon Stewart has been out of the limelight for a while. He needs to restore his status as a political celebrity if he's going to run. He and Colbert are the fallen dinosaurs of the Bush era, while Carlson has made a name for himself in the now.

Stewart can beat Carlson in the limelight but he starts at a lower point, and it may not even matter as the EC is biased towards R's and elderly boomers will pour in for Carlson even he loses celebrity. Steward does have the potential to win if he can relight the spark of 20 years ago, but Lean R for now.

Stewart won't run and Carlson probably won't either, but the ads write themselves.

"Jon Stewart fought for 9/11 first responders and he will fight for you. Tucker Carlson has done nothing for anyone other than himself. This election, the choice is easy. Stewart 2024."

An entire generation with no memory of 9/11, or were not alive yet, voted for the first time this year and more will be voting next cycle.

That doesn't mean that everyone voting will have no memory of 9/11. It was just 19 years ago. In addition, for those with no memory of 9/11, Stewart's policies would still resonate with them more than Carlson's policies would. They may not remember 9/11, but they remember Trump, and they remember Carlson being a cheerleader for Trump, who they largely opposed.

Both of those points are obvious. Stewart could overpreform with Gen Xers and the youth vote will still be strongly D. I'm just saying that 9/11 won't be an important issue to campaign on and it certainty won't drive youth turnout. It's history.
