This bill is very much a start of an attempt to codify & protect our Artic region to the North; specifcally in the Artic National Wildlife Refuge.

This is a protected area of land which irrc in Atlasian law is protected from oil drilling; but this further strengthens this & expands the amount of land which is protected from oil drilling and other similar processes which harm the natural environment, disrupt the migration patterns of animals and damages the way of life for the people who live in these communities.

I will find the map which the expansion in this bill corresponds to (I had it when I wrote the bill) and am happy to formally put that into the bill.

IF this bill ever makes it to the house it will be strongly opposed. Our nation needs fossil fuels to maintain a first world economy and cheap energy for our poor. This is completely unreasonable to close off any of our resources of energy.

Thank you for these comments but this bill does not ban fossil fuels it simply codifies what has been an existing policy for 30+ years & expands it.

Even if there isn't any drilling, we should still protect this area?

Actually my concern is the opposite, I am trying to gauge the impact on jobs and oil production from this action.

My understanding is that there isn't; however it all extends from the 1980s when the issue was give to Congress to sort out but of course it was never actually solved & just became an ongoing stalemate; this just legislates to ensure that one president cannot undo it at a whim.
