Quote
At a meeting Wednesday at the White House, President Donald Trump had something he wanted to discuss with his advisers, many of whom have told him his chances of succeeding at changing the results of the 2020 election are thin as a reed.

He then proceeded to press them on whether Republican legislatures could pick pro-Trump electors in a handful of key states and deliver him the electoral votes he needs to change the math and give him a second term, according to people briefed on the discussion.

“He knows it’s over,” one adviser said. But instead of conceding, they said, he is floating one improbable scenario after another for staying in office while he contemplates his uncertain post-presidency future.

There is no grand strategy at play, according to interviews with a half-dozen advisers and people close to the president. Trump is simply trying to survive from one news cycle to the next, seeing how far he can push his case against his defeat and ensure the continued support of his Republican base.

Fortunately, Trump has never been a competent strategist, and he's already fired anyone remotely competent, so he won't succeed.

Hopefully true, but just because he's bad at treason is no reason to let him or his lackeys off the hook for any crimes they commit between election and Inauguration.

Donald Trump knows it's over, but he can't publicly admit it because then he would admit to being a loser and his daddy wouldn't have stood for that. So, instead he's being a sore loser.

He should turn his focus to the enormous legal trouble he's in come January.

No one should be surprised that Trump has no strategy and is just winging it as he goes. That’s how he’s always done everything.

Throwing spaghetti at the wall and seeing what sticks pretty much sums up Trump’s entire presidency and life.

That's why he filed a lawsuit to have entire county-wide results tossed in Wisconsin. Surely sounds like somebody about to concede.

He’s a traitor and anyone who supports him despite his attempts to overthrow an election is a traitor.

That was done by three citizens in state court.

My point was more that I don't expect him to concede, he could live another 40+ years after and still wouldn't.

You have to love how the urgent meeting with his advisors is over how best he could delude himself, satiate his ego, and destroy the country in the process instead of doing his job and addressing the pandemic, stimulus talks, or something even a modicum more important. If you thought the Trump administration didn't give a f*** over these last four years, you haven't seen anything yet! Al Bundy is a paragon of back-breaking labor compared to Trump and his administration.
