11/24/20 State Updates:

1.) Added Washington to the list of States where you can "surf" County precinct results from a Statewide website (Link at the directory at the beginning of the thread).

2.) Click on your County (I chose Cowlitz or Yakima to Start With)

3.) Click on the "Precincts CSV" button at the top of the webpage under the "Export Results" Row, and you get your precinct data which you can then Pivot Table and Massage at Will.

4.) As of the time of this posting some Counties (Like King County) are unavailable, so check back later for any places you are looking for and not seeing results broken down to precinct level.

11/24/20: Update-   Massachusetts has now been add to the list of States with Centralized precinct Results Available following Statewide Certification:

Link is available in the directory at the top of the thread.

https://electionstats.state.ma.us/elections/view/140751/

1.) Scroll down the County you are interested in checking out (I chose Worchester).

2.) Select the City / Township you want to view (I chose Worchester again), and there you got the entire City by Ward & precinct, which you can then review against detailed social-demographic data-sets if you so chose.

Updated Utah directory upthread to add Summit County, and also added a map of Counties currently available with Precinct Level results (Utah Certified their elections today).

Rhode Island:

I had previously posted the Statewide links, but not instructions on how to grab the precinct data you are interested in:

So for all of those uninitiated into Precinct Level research, here is how to look at the results you are interested in:

https://www.ri.gov/election/results/2020/general_election/north_providence/

1.) Grab your City (I chose North Providence because maybe it was a place I was interested in checking out).

2.) Click on the View Votes by Precinct, et voila...

3.) Wanna see what happened in Warwick?   (Easy Peasy, click on the City/Town on the Right of the webpage, and you gotcha something to match against '16 GE PRES results / demographic data, etc....)

Most of the Atlas OG's know where to get data, but still I believe it is important to make this data visible and accessible for ALL posters, as well as lurkers, since last time I checked this site isn't a private party, plus we got tons of new blood and talent who have tons to contribute (Plus they might be a bit better with software apps and GiS precinct mapping than some of us OGs, who aren't quite as up to speed with such items).

Ohio--- 11/27/20 just dumped all of their precinct data earlier today.

I added the link to the master directory at the top of the thread.

Ohio is one of my favorite States since all of their precinct results are available in one spreadsheet which you can download into Excel.

Thanks!

I had the 2016 page open while I was running a compare / contrast between '16 & '20.

Link was correct on the Master Directory, and have updated the link from the post I made a few minutes ago.

West Virginia- 11/27/20 Update:

Apparently I had added a link to WV returns on my Master Directory some time back, without even providing any direction, let alone checking out the availability of Precinct Level Results.

So.... most WV precinct level results aren't available yet...

Still, they likely will become available for most counties shortly:

1.) Go here...

https://results.enr.clarityelections.com/WV/106210/web.264614/#/reporting

2.) Click on a County and although most are not available, I chose to look at a favorite County of Mine... Mingo County.

3.) ENR report style, grab your precinct numbers from the far right of the web page...

Texas: 11/22/20 Update- 21/254 Counties

11/22/20- Added Bell, Brazos, Ellis, Galveston, Guadalupe, Hays, Jefferson, Lubbock, McLennan, Montgomery, Webb

Adding a few of the largest counties just for starters. (I'll keep adding to the list. Back in 2018 I believe I was only able to track down about 50% of the Counties in Texas for official online precinct results)

To paraphrase a Gary Nunn song: "you can ask me what I hate about Texas... it's the precincts lines Statewide. Everything between the Sabine and Rio Grande.... you ask me what I love about Texas, and I can be here all.... night...long"

You rock--- awesome jimrtex!!!

I'll go ahead and update the Master Texas directory a bit later to include all of these updates so they are easy to find and alphabetical in one location for anyone doing research.

I believe for 2018 GE, I was able to track down official online precinct results for (82) Counties in TX before I started to hit a diminishing rate of returns, plus there are so many counties in TX doing online searches through county websites was taking an Hour each time just to pursue the missing ones...

So for example for MO 2020 GE, I just started with counties which I tracked down official results for the '18 GE to save myself, excess time, and will probably do the same with TX as well at some point for counties that other posters haven't already tracked down numbers for.

Election precinct results are organized by Commissioners Precinct (every county in Texas has four county commissioners, and thus four commissioners precincts). A link to each of the four commissioners precincts are here:

https://www.co.walker.tx.us/department/division.php?structureid=141

Or the direct link to the four precincts are:

Precinct 1

Precinct 2

https://www.co.walker.tx.us/egov/apps/document/center.egov?view=item;id=4374

Precinct 4

https://www.co.walker.tx.us/egov/apps/document/center.egov?view=item;id=4376

I found countywide, but not precinct results for Kaufman, Taylor, Wichita, Tom Green, Bowie, and Orange.

No countywide results found for Grayson, Liberty, Angelina, and Coryell.

I've gone through the 50 largest counties (73,000+), with 87% of the population.

Precinct canvasses must exist, since that is part of the state election law.

And now perusing the Texas Election Code (TEC 67.017), I find that these returns must be sent to the Secretary of State in electronic form, and that this has been the case since 2005.

I've sent an e-mail to the SOS asking about the 2018 returns, and when those for 2020 would be available.

Thanks jimrtex!

I have updated the Texas directory upthread to include all of the counties you provided.

Also, looking forward to what you get back from the TX SoS!   Smiley

11/30/20 Update- Colorado:

Colorado is now added to the master list directory upthread.

It's a bit tricky right now, so follow along closely:

1.) Go to this Site:

https://results.enr.clarityelections.com/CO/105975/web.264614/#/access-to-races

2.) Scroll down and select your County:   (I chose Boulder just because I felt like it), and you will see something like the following:

https://results.enr.clarityelections.com/CO/Boulder/105983/web.264614/#/summary?v=272317%2F&voteType=All&precinct=2171207200&party=All

3.) Towards the Top of the page a bit far down on the right-hand site you will see a Filter button.

4.) Now you will see a "Vote Type Filter" box (Where All is the only category available).

This is fine Colorado is an all VbM state, so every vote is an "election day vote".

5.) You will also see a box directly to the right of the "vote type filter" box, which has a drag down menu.

This menu consists of a series of large numbers.

Each of these numbers corresponds to an election precinct.

6.) I chose 2171207200   (Just because I felt like it)....

Sure enough I see Biden at (458) Votes vs (143) Trump with  a total of (610) votes.

7.) I cross check against my 2016 Colorado Precinct Data Excel Set, and that same precinct went HRC (378) vs Trump (149) with a total of (569) Votes.

Again, not all counties might be available yet, and looks some results aren't certified for one county statewide because of a COVID outbreak.

I *believe* that Colorado a bit later will dump an entire Excel file for download including precinct data, but hey at least we got something to work with for now.

Enjoy!!!!

@NOVA New Jersey does have an option to view each municipality by county, it just isn’t up yet. I realize that isn’t precinct level per se, but it’s the next best thing.

[.) There are certain States which do not provide any type of centralized system (CA, UT, TX, MO, IN, PA, NJ, NY), where County level reporting is the only game in town.
I've got an update on TX. They're not like CA or NY.

4.) Maine is just weird, and maybe somebody can help sort me out on this.

I am assuming a City as large as Portland has Wards, in which case by my book even if that is lowest level of reporting would be the closest thing to a "precinct" for a decent sized town?
Maine elections are administered by each town (or city). Portland has election results reported for each polling place (it has 5 wards, and two or three polling places per ward. BUT most of the votes are listed as "CP" (about 27K for CP and 6K for the precincts).

You might not be able to get anything more useful for Maine than for towns (cities) even if you scanned the city web sites.

TEXAS

Texas 2020 Precinct Election Results are Here

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/17RamU8sOERU8jM22X-rchIOeClbtZTOz?usp=sharing

An index of previous elections is here (it includes a link to the 2020 GE as well).

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1vxIpkpMF_Io93hHWv9l5o6c4zfQr8H1t?usp=sharing

It includes a combination of xls, pdf, csv, and txt files. Each county uploads their own.

The 2018 general election appears to be missing 71 counties mostly smaller.

The 2020 file is a work in progress. Counties have until December 7 to upload their files.

21 of the 71 counties that did not upload in 2018, have uploaded in 2020, while many of the larger counties have not done so yet. Maybe they are working at getting better compliance.

In smaller counties, the county clerk is The elections department as well as other duties. Preparing the electronic results may actually involve keying the results into a spreadsheet.

I'll work to get the format of the txt file and csv files.

Thanks. I figured the Legislative Council must have results since they manage the redistricting data. It looks like they have shapefiles as well.

The 2018 results were published in October 2019, so it may or may not be a while for 2020. It is possible that they will want to get that done sooner rather than later so it can be used for redistricting.

Excellent work ferreting these out!

I have gone ahead and updated the master index at the top of the thread to link to the GoogleDrive site, and also hyperlinked to your post for your additional comments / context.

Question for you (and anyone else interested) should I delete the TX County list post as part of thread maintenance, or keep it around as a backup in case something happens to the Google Drive site?

Thanks to the both of you!

At some point soon, I will go in and update links for the 2018 Precinct thread to include additional TX data, and maybe clean it up a bit in a few other ways.

I don't know if anyone has noticed this yet, but I've contacted a number of officials in KY, and it appears almost every county will not be reporting precinct results this year.

I had noticed that the state website was curiously lacking in detail this year, compared to 2018, where some 90% of counties had precinct results available via the KY Elections ENR engine, but had assumed it was just a delay in reporting county detailed numbers, or posting data by the State.

Did anyone provide an explanation or rationale?

Basically, due to COVID, counties in KY (except Jefferson, I think, as I've found precinct data for them) went to a county-wide voting center system where everyone's ballots were mixed together. This are some of the explanations I've received so far:

Quote
Per the State Board of Elections there will not be any precinct level statistics available.

To allow for the possibility of true voting centers, the ballots weren’t labeled by their specific precincts.  For example in Villa Hills, the ballot is the same for all residents which was ballot face number #56, but in a regular election ballot #56 becomes C133, C134, C135, C136 and C137.  This coding makes them precinct specific and that is how we track precinct level results.  Even though I had 57 different ballot faces for this election, if there had been precinct specific setups, I would actually would have had over 125 different ballot faces.

Quote
[W]ith operating under the emergency regulation and using the voting centers that could serve anyone in the county, we do not have the ability to break down the results by precinct.
