Actual result:
Trump 52.1% (58% of Latino vote)
Biden 46.4% (41% of Latino vote)

If Latinos voted like they did in 2016:
Trump 50.5% (61% of Latino vote)
Biden 47.1% (34% of Latino vote)

Suddenly a 5.7 point victory (+9.1 R PVI) turns into a 3.6 point victory (+6 R PVI). If Biden/Harris can gain back this advantage, ongoing demographic changes make Texas a pure tossup in 2024.

It'll be interesting to see how Latinos vote in 2022 and 2024 with Trump gone. If they revert back to 2016/2018 or stay a bit more Rish like 2020.

That will depend on how Biden does with the Hispanic community. He seems to be very different from Obama in his outreach to them.

I read an article that said that Trump's name on the stimulus checks was enough for some people in South Texas to vote for him. They saw the money as coming from him.

Another theory I heard about Hispanics swinging R was Trump reaching out to the family of US Army Specialist Vanessa Guillen after her murder at Fort Hood. Her murder story was widely covered in Hispanic media circles on the same level as George Floyd’s murder was on mainstream English speaking media.

First off, I'm just quoting what the article said. That was not my own speculation. Second, you of all people can't call anyone racist.

Reps weren’t that good at it either until Trump came along. He really helped with messaging Republican ideas and gaining support for the party, sadly enough.
