I was playing around with some redistricting and came up with an idea for a competition.

Who can build the best partisan gerrymanders that have a "clean" compact look similar to the recent Florida maps? Is it even possible to build Democratic gerrymanders that have a clean shape? How far can you take it?

The 1st is the only one that seems really suspect here. Trends in the districts that voted +10 or less in either direction are brutal for Rs. The 1st was slightly more D (+2 or 3). The 6th (southern Phoenix area including the Gila reservation) voted for Clinton by 1 and Biden by like 8. The 8th (NW Phoenix) voted for Trump by 8 in 2016 and 1 in 2020.

PA D-Mander.
The 6th is a bit meh looking with the tentacle but not too bad.

It holds on all but 2016-Senate (including the 2012/2016) in which the 1st narrowly flips, but tbf thats still a major improvement from before. Oh and yes its VRA compliant don't ask.

Shaded according to 2020 Pres above.

When going clean in TX you have to utilize swing seats to your advantage.

10 Safe D seats
Liklely D Hidalgo Seat
Lean D South Texas Seat
Lean D seats in Dallas and Houston suburbs; likely would've voted for R in 2020 and 2022 but would be going hard left. Both are Clinton/Cornyn/Biden
Lean R Hispanic Seat

Lean R seats in Dallas and Austin suburbs/exurbs that are both about Trump + 10 should be fine for GOP for now but could change, especially the Austin one.

What is the best clean gerrymander you can do for NC Democrats? I tried to do one but I face the issue of wasted votes and all...
