"After much reflection, I have decided to withdraw my candidacy for the democratic nominee for president. While I am recovering from my heart attack, with the help of my lovely wife Jane, I am in no state for a presidential campaign. I will resume my duties as Senator from Vermont once I am well and will retire at the end of my current term. Fighting for policies such as Medicare for All, Free College, a living wage and a Green New Deal will be something I will continue to do, and I may consider endorsing a candidate who will also fight for them".
- Senator Bernie Sanders
