I know this scenario is completely insane, but right now I am imagining this NUT presidential election between two middle-aged Catholics grown up in Lousiana: John Bel Edwards and Amy Coney Barrett.

Discuss with maps.

Easily JBE. ACB would not turn out the low-propensity voters Trump relied on, indeed repulsing many of the secular working-class whites part of the Trump coalition. Above all, an ultraconservative legal scholar is not going to be a very good candidate.

IMO JBE would be an amazing candidate for Democrats because a very large section of this country is socially conservative and economically progressive so he'd do very well in states like Florida and the Rust Belt.

John Bel Edwards might make a good Democratic candidate in 2028 and might have chance to win election to the Senate in a Donald Trump or Ron DeSantis midterm.

JBE landslide, and probably a pretty good President. He should go for it!
