There’s no reason why Kanye even deserves his own thread. Mods, merge this into the third party general
He might be running as a Republican
Then that makes this even less valuable given he’ll get nowhere. We didn’t have a general for that rando IRS agent, Gilmore, or Pataki in 2016–we don’t need it for Ye

Yeah because he was such a serious contender before that.

The guy wasn't taking his meds, for probably years now. What gave anyone the impression he had the discipline to run a campaign much at all?

It’s mostly due to their embarrassing predictions about Trump collapsing throughout 2016 so people gotta overcompensate for their failures by taking every joke candidacy somewhat seriously. Pre 2015, there would be no thread for this.

I can see where that school of thought would be coming from. But Trump was actually incredibly disciplined in 2016 and he stayed on message, saying the right things in the right situations among the key swing voters, allowing him to ride his way into an EC majority. If he was completely off-the-rails and unfocused, then he likely would have lost.

In the end, discipline is important for a political campaign.

Had Trump been treated accurately as a joke candidate with a joke campaign, our nation would be far better off.  By focusing on what a terrible human being he is personally (but glossing over, ignoring, or burying his gross unfitness for office) the media legitimized his campaign. I have been a little concerned that we would see the same happen with Kanye.

Trump and Kanye deserve the same coverage that Vemin Supreme or Jimmy McMillan get. Anything else is journalistic malpractice.
