That would be an incredibly underwhelming pick for such a high profile ambassadorship. With the need for a UK-US trade deal post-Brexit someone who actually knows about diplomacy should have the United Kingdom job, imo. Give her Barbados, The Bahamas, or a similarly low profile post.
The UK, and frankly most of Western Europe, ambassadorship is more a sinecure than an actual diplomatic job. The reality is that with the well developed close relationship between the US and UK, most major things are handled by the UK and US officials directly without the need for an intermediary and everything else is minor enough to handled by the Consular corps.

I am very interested in seeing how a lot of these minor posts like district attorneys and ambassadors are filled out, especially DAs in swing states. Especially to see who could be potential recruits later on for competitive offices

Not the worst pick in the world, but I'd like to see a different nominee get the job.

Maybe Phil Murphy?

Where do we think Buttigieg will land since VA, Defense, State, and UN are out?

One of the key ambassador roles, perhaps to Russia?

Is Housing and Urban Development still available? That's where I'd put Buttigeig, given he's an ex-Mayor...

Most of the people up for that are African-Americans and Clyburn is already starting to ruffle feathers trying to get more blacks in the cabinet, so not there. Maybe transportation? He’d be better than Garicetti or Emmanuel. But I’ve also seen Blumenauer brought up for that role do he’d be my pick. Maybe he could be Commerce after that?

Give Transportation to say... Lori Lightfoot.

Why should he resign the governorship for that? Governor is still a bigger job than any ambassadorship.

One reason Cindy McCain would be a good pick is because she's close to the Bidens. As ambassador, Britains will know she actually speaks for the president. That's also the reason Blinken and Kerry are excellent choices for their assigned roles, other than their experience.

It’s going to be hilarious when Pete doesn’t get any position and we get to see the Buttiheads struggle explain why Pete should have been doing something without saying that pretty youngish Harvard men should get a jobs over someone vastly more qualified.

Sending a Mayor of a small town with zero foreign policy experience as one of the key ambassadors would be quite strange.

Yeah that Treasury pick was a slap in the face to Warren who wanted it, guest not all that Pressley and Joe Kennedy primary was all talk.

Bernie isn't gonna be SOL either, why would Ds let Rs pick a replacement anyways, and an R will walk into either seat. VT may or may not elect a D Senator

Ugh, gross. Will be writing Ossoff and Warnock to seek their opinions on some of these nominees. Tanden, in particular, is quite an odious individual.

We have our press secretary.

Symone Sanders will be VP adviser/spox.

Karine Jean Pierre, who was Kamala's chief of staff during her campaign for Vice President, will be deputy press secretary.

I thought Bruce Reed was going to head the OBM?

I guess the opposition from the left worked, although Neera Tanden might not have been who they had in mind.

Why does nearly every admin seem to see HUD as a black person's job? Isn't that kind of racist?

Somehow, they managed to pick the one person who could garner more controversy among the left than Reed. Darkly comedic, in a way.

Even with her clear and open disdain for Bernie, she still seems better for the job than Bruce Reed.

I don't think anyone Biden was going to name was someone they had in mind, but pretty ridiculous that we have such rabidly anti Bernie people getting cabinet positions.

They really are going out of their way to find the absolute worst. I was expecting Biden to have a cabinet that could fool some really stupid progressives into thinking he's on their side, but nope, absolutely none of that.

Rahm Emanuel was also hired as an investment banker right out of the Clinton Administration for which he had zero qualifications.

This would be a terrible decision. Sadly, Rahm's political connections with the Obama/Biden world is deep.

I hope that Biden doesn't do this.
