How successful will the new administration be at reducing malarkey levels in this country?

They will be totally unsuccessful until Joe Biden answers specific questions about Hunter's business dealings and Tony Bobulinski's statements on that subject.  That's for starters.  His brother's homebuilding business in Iraq is another question he can expound on.  If he's President, he ought to be candid with this.

Who is Tony Bobulinski and why should anyone care?

Tony Bobulinski was Hunter Biden's former business partner who came forth after Joe Biden (A) lied about his knowledge of Hunter Biden's business affairs, and (B) was essentially labeled a Russian Asset by Biden, by Adam Schiff, by the news media (all falsely and without proof, however).

It's telling that you, a New Zealander, do not know who Tony Bobulinski is.  Tony Bobulinski is a man that put forth proof that Joe Biden is lying when he says he did not discuss business of Burisma or other foreign dealings (including dealings with China) with his son.  It's the sort of story you'd know by heart if the businessman involved (and target of an FBI money laundering investigation to boot) were Donald Trump, Jr. and not Hunter Biden (who IS the focus of a money laundering investigation).

What does it say that you don't know that?  This is a story that would be blasted 24/7 if it were Donald Trump, Jr.  In any other election year it would be the stuff that would make the new Bob Woodward or Carl Bernstein.  But you don't even know who Tony Bobulinski is.

This is because the American Media, in tandem with the "Big Tech" giants (Twitter, Facebook, Google) have chosen deliberately not to air this story.  Only FOX News, Newsmax, Breitbart, etc. air this.  Never mind that it's true.  Never mind that Bobulinski has provided authentic evidence that consists of the words of others, and not him.  Twiltter, Google, Facebook, CNN, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, et al simply decided that "we" didn't need to know the degree to which Biden's family has been influence peddlers (to their profit) with Biden's complicity.

Joe Biden will likely be the next President.  I certainly want the processes that allowed every break in the counting to go his way to be investigated, but I'm not kidding myself about the outcome.  I want those who conducted the vote to be investigated; their actions have the appearance of impropriety on their face.  People are not "conspiracy theorists" to look askance at this; they've seen one bogus narrative after another about Trump for over 4 years that often ended with it being clear that Trump was right about what he was saying about his enemies.  But let's dispel this fiction that Joe Biden is a decent man.  He's a crass influence peddler, and his rather unremarkable family members have clearly profited from it, Hunter Biden being the most obscene.  Joe won't even deny it; what does that say?

Joe Biden is a senile scumbag.  I'm not going to be one of the "Not My President" crowd.  He is likely to be my next President, and that's not a good thing; he will be a prostitute for China against American interests because he is already compromised.  He has no courage whatsoever; he is a liberal Marshal Petain.  I wish America well.  I pray that all will be well in spite of the man likely to be out next President.

This thread provides yet another illumination of why the election turned out the way that it did, and as close as it did. We have 77 million Americans on one side of the aisle, and 72 million on another side of the aisle, unable to see eye to eye with one another, and possessed of completely different views about this pandemic, the past four years, and of this country's situation in general.

I love the immediate transition to being preoccupied with ethical lapses for a Democrat, but yet conservatives / Republicans were very unbothered by Trump's (a Republican) mountains of shady business dealings and ethical problems.

I mean, it shouldn't be surprising to anyone who follows politics, but it's still amusing to watch unfold anyway. Kind of like a national geographic documentary.

If I posted such a post about a Democrat I'd be cited for excessive hyperbole and derailing the thread.  Just sayin'.

You can dodge the point all you want. Nobody here is buying your sudden conversion to caring so much about the business dealings of a President and his immediate family members.

There's a whiplash effect evident here. On the one hand, we have those who believe that Trump has "done enough living for us all", that he has been unfairly targeted by the "Deep State" and the "fake news" media, and that he is a blameless character who's truly concerned about this country. But then, when the subject changes to Biden, the narrative changes as well. Then, it is said that Biden is a "scumbag", a "pedophile", and a "creep" who is corrupt to his core, has sold out to the Chinese, and refuses to condemn BLM, Antifa, and all the rest. At that point, others say that no one cares about any of that nonsense, and that Trump is a fundamental threat to democracy. I've lost my mind trying to explain all of this, but like I said above, this helps to illuminate why the election was as close as it was.

That's because Trump is not comparable to a Democrat on the subject of ethical / shady behaviour. Why do you insist on CONSTANTLY holding everyone to the same standards regardless of factual context (when it suits your narrative)?

You are more likely to get infracted for referring to, for example, Penn Quaker Girl or Chips as a "rude A-hole" than you are than if you called, for example, Sanchez or Dule the same thing. Do you know why? We live in a world where evidence and track records are relevant. We hold rapists to different standards than others when it comes to our daughters, and we hold thieves to different standards than others when it comes to our elderly parents.

It will probably have mixed results.
