I made an **s of myself for being a Democrat “doomer” this last election, so I will do it again but in reverse.
Yes
Both Ossoff and Warnock will easily overperform their polling and Atlas will be shocked if (bold if) nothing changes at this rate.

Also Ossoff and Warnock will get nearly the exact same percentage. Split ticket voting is a no-go these days.

Counterproposal: accept uncertainty, realize that no candidate is obviously favored in the runoff, and many possible outcomes are reasonable.

Voters won’t care about what Perdue did. The Dems need to make this about how the GOP will obstruct Biden like they did Obama.

The Democrats won't win these Seats - Period!

Biden has realized this already by thus far nominating "Safe Picks" to his Cabinet who can sail through the Senate without too much Republican Opposition. That tells me that he doesn't believe that they will win both Seats.

I still believe that if Republicans win one or both runoffs in Georgia, no nominee of his will get a hearing in the Senate.

Then Biden pulls a Trump and puts in place some hack to serve as acting secretary. I think the Republicans would lose that game so they'll let "reasonable" appointees through.

Wouldn't it be nuts if he got Pelosi to help him dissolve Congress and recess appoint his cabinet? That would be funny I think.

It would probably be stupid. First off, Biden is extremely unlikely to pick controversial Cabinet members and I think he'd be happy enough with civil service acting secretaries in any case, so there's no need to use such an extreme tactic for a Cabinet member. What this tactic should be reserved for is a SCOTUS seat that McConnell refuses to allow Biden to fill.

Has anyone been able to deduce anything from the early mail-in ballot request numbers?

No, it’s far too early. Only thing I noticed was over 300K new registered voters since the general election.

Is there any way to tell the party affiliation or the new voters (or demographics)?

Georgia to Block New Voters ahead of Runoff

"...block new registrations before the Senate runoff to people who don’t have a car registered in the state."

"..This knocks out students and lower income urban voters (i.e. Black Atlantans) without cars. Of course, you can’t force people to buy a car in order to vote. The voters will be allowed on the rolls after a hearing, which will of course be after the January 5 election."

"...the rule not only states “The registrar may also consider…whether the applicant has a motor vehicle registered in this state,” but also that the registrar can take into account “whether the applicant has paid the required title ad valorem tax on such vehicle”. What does this have to do with voting except to knock out students and low income people"

Why don't Democrats just start calling Republicans authoritarians?

Why don't Democrats hammer this? It gets me annoyed when Republicans just label everything as socialists, and that's enough to rile up their base, while Democrats don't even talk about blatant voter suppression efforts.

Well if blacks and low information voters like college kids can't vote, it's all over for the D's in GA, sorry, D's aren't winning without these voters and McConnell will stay majority leader.

Hope Pelosi was glad holding up the 2.2 T instead of negotiating the 1.9T , she is gonna get a worst deal now 1T or less

This is equivalent to the poll tax established in the 1960, you have to own a vehicle to vote

I'm shocked at how coherent this post is.

That's not true. Abrams has been waging a high-profile campaign against this in Georgia for years now. Democrats do talk about this all the time. If you said this 4+ years ago, I'd say yeah, you have a point, but it's not the same anymore.

Agreed. Though it seems "socialism" just scares more people off than "voter supression".

Agreed. Though it seems "socialism" just scares more people off than "voter supression".

Part of the issue is that something high-profile like voter ID itself is and sounds like a common sense idea, but the implementation and motivations behind constitute what is unacceptable. Other measures usually involve a lot of opaque rule changes that aren't really blatant and in-your-face like a literacy test or poll tax is. That's the point, too. Just keep making changes that make voting more and more uncomfortable until the effects compound and you've sufficiently shrunk the opposition's pool of voters.

I wouldn't expect to get much sympathy from the average Republican voter, either. Trump's incessant whining about this election has been enough to turn the base against absentee voting, so we're probably in for another 10 years of escalating election law fights not unlike this latest scheme in Georgia.

If I were the Georgia Dems, I’d find someone who can’t drive due to a disability of some sort and try and sue under the ADA.

I'll take your word for this as the proven Georgia expert. It's a shame though. Americans really should care more about corruption, but it's been evident in the Trump era that they indeed don't care or understand.

I hope that the Dems win the runoffs simply because the GOP is just that awful. But I’ll believe the Dems winning a runoff when I see it.

And conversely, what about all the Republican who are mortified by Trump's refusal to concede and by Loeffler/Perdue's enabling of it?

All 5 of them?

If Trump gets depressed and gives up, then the MAGA cult won't be whipped up into a frenzy for the GA special elections.

They stop polling the race, we don't know what is happening just like they stop polling, ME and Collins was winning.

They like to do that so that they can make people think D's have a greater chance so they can get more contributions from Act blue. They did the same in MT, KS, TX polls and we never saw a real KS poll, BOLLIER was Underperformimg

Or they see him a martyr and turnout like crazy while Dems get complacent and don't show up.
