I will bet anyone right now any amount of money they want with any odds they want that Michelle Obama does not run in 2024.

My political confidence has been shaken by the election results, but I'm so confident in this take that I would stake my life on it.  Michelle Obama will never run for political office.  You can all bookmark this post and put this quote in your bios in size 48 font if she does in fact run and I will rename myself to "GeneralMacArthur was wrong"

Is this a debate-qualifying poll?

Joe Biden will likely run for a second term, theres no point of this unless if you include him in the poll

There are many other reasons why there is no point in this poll honestly.

I don't exactly understand how Deval Patrick always seems to get 1-2% in these things, and who answers for him, but they're out there somewhere - and I love them. Deval's one of my favorites.

It's McLaughlin. It's also a poll about elections after 2020 taken before the 2020 polling postmortem.

I just remembered that you predicted Democrats couldn't win in 2020 unless they nominated Gillibrand.

I just remembered that you predicted Democrats couldn't win in 2020 unless they nominated Gillibrand.

Care to provide some evidence or are you just making things up? On November 9, 2016, I wrote that she would be a top contender from a pretty thin bench along with Elizabeth Warren (and thinking the Democrats had a weak bench - which they clearly did, everyone who ran had serious weaknesses - is not the same as thinking they wouldn't beat Donald Trump). On December 9, 2016, I ranked her has my top choice in a poll that excluded Biden and Sanders and never commented on electability (like clearly Sherrod Brown would be most electable in that poll). By 2018, I had completely abandoned her newfound persona and denigrated her at every turn.

While I thought Trump had a fighting chance to be re-elected, I don't think I ever put him as a sizable favorite against most anybody relevant? I thought there was potential for Biden to flop for a few months maybe? Is that so unreasonable?

Why don't you mock me for thinking Scott Walker was a potential frontrunner in 2014? At least I called Jeb's flop.

Further, what does this have to do with anything in this comment? Noting my own personal support for Andrew Cuomo has nothing to do with his electability. While popular, I wouldn't be surprised if he couldn't appeal outside of the mid-Atlantic.

If Michelle doesn't wanna run then why are they including her? Unless they assume she's gonna change her mind and run anyways, which even then I don't see happening until either 2028 or 2032 depending on who wins 2024.

All polling firms should be dissolved. Polls are now effectively meaningless.

What a joke poll! If it isn't Biden, than it's clear that Harris would be a favorite (with staunch opposition fueling candidates from the left AND the right sides of the Democratic party, pending on her potential popularity as VP).

I doubt more than one or two of those candidates run, even if the primary is wide open.

If Biden runs again, he's the nominee. Probably more or less unopposed.

If Biden does not run again, he gives the mantle to Harris and she's the nominee. Probably more or less unopposed even though maybe some leftist tries to create a name for themselves.

If for some reason the Biden presidency is a disaster - and I see zero reason to believe this - THEN and only then we might have a competitive primary. Andsince we have no idea what this disaster might be, it would pretty much be impossible to tell right now who the favourites for the nomination would be.

In other words, polls like these are pointless. I mean I love polls, so I don't mind them. But they are stil pointless.
