Madigan has officially lost his majority in the Illinois House, at least by a few votes.
That's going by those who have publicly said they're unwilling to vote for him as speaker.
It's worth noting for those outside IL that the driver of these Dem defections was a new round of
federal indictments last night: four connected with the Com Ed scandal to curry favor with Madigan through hiring and contracts for those supported by the Speaker. The Speaker's connection to the unfolding scandal was cited in some key Dem defeats. These new indictments were enough to push a number of his caucus.
