What's up with the likes of Lauren Underwood & Susan Wild? Looking at the current margins, I'd guess mail-in ballots would probably help them, but does anybody have more insight as to whether or not they'll be saved in the end?

What's up with Candace Valenzuela in TX-24? She's behind by just under 4,500 votes according to the AP right now, with 99% reporting. Any insight as to what the outstanding vote is/where it's from & how it likely factors into an end result?

Following-up on ^ this ^ as well as a question about NJ-02: the AP shows JVD has a 10,000-vote lead but only 72% reporting. What's outstanding there, is it mail-in, & is Kennedy still in this thing?

Just realized this slipped through the cracks without an answer, anybody got anything re: TX-24?

That's so stupid. Just hold a redo special

Eh, drawing a candidate's name out of a hat is - if not 'not stupid,' then at the very least - logistically more effective (not to mention, infinitely cheaper).

Clinton County finished their recount today. I believe this is the last county to finish their recount, and it ends with Miller-Meeks having a 6 vote lead in IA-02. The state is set to certify results on Monday:

If the Indiana 'Bloody Eighth' precedent of 1984 is anything to go by, it may be ~May before IA-02 has a Representative seated on its behalf. In any event, depending on how the House chooses - if at all - to proceed with regards to the thousands of unexamined undervotes, overvotes, & others that weren't counted for a variety of reasons, Hart might honestly have just as good a shot as Miller-Meeks at being determined the winner by the House.

Regardless of whether she's in the right or wrong, what a sh*tty time to be a Democrat contesting an election result.

So I looked it up and Miller-Meeks can be seated while a house investigation takes place. Also this AP article goes through the 22 ballots:

Honestly, I do think Hart has a valid case to make. Again though, I doubt democrats try to meaningfully intervene.

Why didn't she make the case in the courts then? NY-22 will be vacant while it is resolved. Wasn't MN-Sen in 2008 left vacant until the Coleman/Franken legal battle finished?

I saw she argued at one point that the Iowa courts will not give her fair judgement but this is an awful argument for a Democrat to make right now because it's exactly what Trump is arguing.

She argued that the timeline the courts' consideration of her case would be held to was insufficient but that seemed like a pretty bad excuse. More likely, her & her campaign decided that they wouldn't get the result they wanted from the court, so they decided to just skip it & go straight to Congress. In any event, though, her decision to challenge in Congress obviously really doesn't look good. Like, at all, especially when you consider that they could've done so after going to court anyway, so it seems disingenuous for them to have not gone through all of the proper local/state channels for legally contesting a election. The last thing we need right now is an election outcome being decided in a partisan manner by Congress.

No, the Administration Committee has been undertaking an investigation, but Miller-Meeks was 'provisionally' seated in the meantime ('provisionally' because there's a hypothetical chance Hart somehow pulls through as a result of the Committee's investigation, but she has the same exact rights as any other House member).
