According to the New York State Board of Elections Excel Sheets

NY-1

Lee Zeldin (R) 199,763  53,92 %

Nancy Goroff (D) 157,484  46,08 %

NY-2

Andrew Garbarino (R) 177,353  49,47 %

Jackie Gordon (D) 154,123  42,99 %

Harry Burger (G) 3,446  0,96 %

This should now be enough for the AP to call both Races.

Notable

Donald Trump lost Suffolk County to Joe Biden by about 11,000 Votes 351,643 to 340,940

Suffolk was close, but Trump won it narrowly 375,821 to 368,000. Above poster wasn't including the Conservative and Working Families ballot lines.

Still a bad performance

Apologizing for the confusion. You're right! My mistake. Trump though won Suffolk by 47,000 Votes against Clinton in 2016. Now it's down to 7K.

Historically sure it's bad though it's obv the NY GOP is in a terrible place as a party and has been for some time. However recent results winning Suffolk is good for Republicans seeing how they lost the county from every election from 96 until 16 when Trump flipped it back to red going against Clinton.

I mean, I suppose it's pretty irrelevant at the end of the day. The NYGOP is left to punting around with a few house seats and a small state legislature minority that shows no signs of growth.

Maybe they'll get excited for Elise Stefanik to run for governor in 2022 to lose by 15.

Interesting, because the initial results on Long Island (at least Suffolk and Nassau County) were a major part of the argument that 'defund the police' was an unpopular message that hurt the Democrats.

Should Democrats use IA-2 as a bargaining chip? They will agree to seat Miller-Meeks in the house in exchange for policy concessions.

They better not. That would not be fair. Meeks won and should be seated.

Being fair to Republicans should not even begin to be a consideration any longer.

So are New York results finished? Why doesn't the Atlas show them yet?
Yes, New York is finished! AP has updated Totals as well though strangely not for the two Congressional Races (NY-1 & NY-2) they have yet to call.

However this is very interesting:
https://apnews.com/article/election-2020-new-york-albany-pennsylvania-elections-51cef8da115ccf89d7e6e269d44e3a38
There might be a bipartisan bill introduced during the next New York Legislative Session barring Counties from counting votes in secret and not allowing Media to have Results.
New York has become the most untransparent State when it comes to vote counting IMO!

Ah, yes, it looks the NYT has updated its map and so has Atlas (although there are some errors on that one).

Not to mention, one random seat in the House isn't worth any policy concessions.

And you know McConnell will come back with "We'll seat Warnock when you seat Miller-Meeks" if it comes to that. Pelosi isn't the type to go for reckless escalation.

Kwanza Hall won the GA-05 Special Election, and will serve for about a month until the 117th Congress begins:

There should be a common-sense constitutional amendment to conjoin end of term special elections with the regular election.
There should be a statute requiring special elections to fill vacancies within a month. So in this case on August 17.

I'd agree with a statute along those lines, although 30 days is probably too quick. Maybe 45 or 50 days.

Going directly to the United States House of Representatives asking them to overturn the Election Results ain't legal options in my book.
This is quite ordinary over history.

Quote from: US Constitution, Article 1, Section 5

Each House shall be the Judge of the Elections, Returns and Qualifications of its own Members, and a Majority of each shall constitute a Quorum to do Business; but a smaller Number may adjourn from day to day, and may be authorized to compel the Attendance of absent Members, in such Manner, and under such Penalties as each House may provide.

It's total no sense.

Hart lost because she got less votes than her opponent, it's a fact, there is nothing to negotiate on that. Policies are bargainable democracy isn't.

If Pelosi decides to seat Hart despite the results being validated by the state board (which includes two democrats), House democrats will have to pay the political price for it in two years.

No one will remember this in 2022. (For the record, I don't think Hart should be seated.) It's not like Republicans suffered for what Mark Harris did in 2018.

Harris was a wild case because he stole both the primary and the general, and the GOP lent him relatively little support once the shady stuff came out.

It was relatively hard to portray that as some kind of GOP conspiracy.

Harris was cleared by the NCSBOE.

Harris won the primary by almost 1000 votes, he led in election day voting, early voting, and absentee voting.

McCrae Dowless has never been tried for anything that happened in 2018.

Ocasio-Cortez seems to forget-or perhaps to ignore-that she's not the only member of Congress who comes from a working-class background. Yes, many of them went through the elite schools and many were born with a silver spoon in their mouths, but many others are small business owners or had to work to get where they are. In the Senate, Elizabeth Warren is an example of this.

And it looks like SUFFOLK COUNTY made some Adjustments here: These Numbers posted by the New York State Board of Elections yesterday (although they said it was certified) were apparently NOT Final.

https://apps2.suffolkcountyny.gov/boe/eleres/20ge/default.htm

DONALD TRUMP  381,253 Votes  49,40 %

JOE BIDEN  381,021 Votes  49,37 %

So I was right yesterday. Trump very nearly lost Suffolk! Yikes! He won by only 132 Votes.

Smh, another Yankee appropriating my culture. It really annoys me when these GOP clowns pretend to be southern despite the fact that I'm pretty sure Miller-Meeks was born in California and obviously lives in Iowa. I realize it doesn't really matter but it's very bothersome.

1. Yeah, but I think that's because she was at college at TCU, and I wouldn't really say I've been assimilated into northern culture just because I'm in college in the north (or would be absent COVID Tongue) and 2. (this is obviously pretty subjective) I think Fort Worth is kind of pushing it when it comes to southern culture anyway.

Seems to be a lot of IA-TX-CA connections. I have often noted that a large number of people moved from Iowa to CA in the mid 20th Century, and a large number probably did likewise to TX. There is also John Wayne, who was born in Iowa but is often associated with TX and then lived in CA as an actor.
