Christy Smith is maybe the biggest loser of this election cycle. What a garbage recruit she turned out to be.

Anyway it's all on Brindisi now to salvage this awful election, assuming New York ever finishes counting their ballots.

NY-22 is going to take a very long time. The recount, legal challenges, and chaos will take time. A Brindisi +10 lead or a Tenney +10 lead are both meaningless until the dust settles.

Ehh, Malinowski and Underwood pulling through salvaged the results from being truly awful. Now they're just terrible.

I've never been happier to be wrong in my life. Thank you, Mexicans who voted for Mike on last name alone, thank you.

Something interesting

Both Christy smith and tj cox did really well with the last 1000 ballots or so in their respective districts

In fact, LA county vastly overestimated how many votes were left

Before today, there were thought to have been 2500 in LA portion of CA 25

There were only 400, and she won 58.5%

If there were actually 2500 left, race would have been interesting

I'd say "ew" but I've gone out of my way to vote for the Jewish candidate multiple times in my life so I'd be a hypocrite.  Grumpy

I may not like Garcia, but the silver lining is you’ve still got a job and I’m really happy about that Smiley

My guess: Young people waited until the last minute to mail their ballots back.

Paulette Jordan also seems like a good candidate.

It's nice when the late ballot trend your parties way. It shouldn't have been surprising in CA that the late ballots trended mostly R as the ballot tracker showed Rs narrowing the gap as it got closer to election day also on election night Trump was losing Placer and barely ahead in El Dorado and Kern. I'm glad that I was actually right this time about the CA house races. All the ones I had flipping did flip.

I love Flawless Beautiful #populist Purple heart Paulette Jordan overperforming against Low Energy Jim in sagebrush country, especially with her fellow Native Americans in Benewah County, and underperforming in neoliberal California coastal elitist ski lodges in Blaine County and Teton County!

Atlas memes aside, the places where Risch overperformed Trump are mostly the counties that swung heavily toward Biden and have higher incomes and educational attainment than the state average. Blaine and Teton contain nationally popular ski resorts and have a lot of wealthier transplants from other states. Ada County has Boise, which is also much more socially liberal and higher income than the rest of the state. Benewah County has the Coeur d'Alene Reservation and is partly contained in Jordan's old house district. Paulette Jordan grew up on a ranch in northern Idaho and won some crossover support from Republican-leaning rural voters in her state house campaigns, so her background probably helped her overperform in rural areas.

Really fun if Smith, Brindisi and Hart end up losing by just a few votes -____-

I think Biden/Rounds voters just wanted to feel good about splitting a ballot. The only moderate thing I can think off Rounds doing is voting yes on immigration reform in 2015 and that’s it.

So based on election results, a 222-212 House with the New York district still up in the air, and Richmond's seat being vacant for a few months after he becomes a Biden advisor. So Pelosi for the Speaker vote can afford to have 4 members at a minimum peel off, possibly 5, and once they get going with legislative work it will be a working majority of either 8 or 10.
