A Democrat is about to hold the Senate seat once held by both Barry Goldwater & John McCain. Wow.

And Sinema of course holds Goldwater's other Senate seat, the one he held before his landslide loss to Lyndon Johnson in 1964. It really does demonstrate the turnaround of Arizona.

Lol, McSally is done. Congrats to handing Dems 2 senate seats that were GOP as recent as 2.5 years ago.

This lines up with the ECU poll. Tillis isn’t underperforming Trump by as much as he did two months ago & Cunningham isn’t outrunning Biden significantly among any demographic group.

I expect Republicans to come home for Tillis much more reliably than McSally. He's done little to enthuse the base but hasn't actively pissed them off all that much compared to other Republican Senators and Cunningham is mildly better-than-average generic D as opposed to an excellent candidate. If the race is lost narrowly, it'll be a bit of an embarrassment for Schumer considering the strong D bench here.

Yeah, this is pretty much the only silver lining for Tillis at this point, although we’ll see what other pollsters show. That said, I don’t think he can afford even a 2-point underperformance unless there’s a significant shift in the national race (unlikely).

And a big part of that (assuming Kelly wins which seems pretty certain at this point) is appointing the loser of an election to a Senate seat anyway.

The optics of that...it's absolutely baffling.

"A plurality (and near-tiny-majority) of people rejected McSally in November.  But hey, she got second place out of a realistic two-person race, so..."

Arizona's margin is probably an outlier, but I think Arizona is definitely in the same territory as Colorado now. Which means that Republicans should abandon this seat. This appointment, probably on purpose for Ducey, has blown up in their face big time. If Veteran McSally couldn't beat an atheist bisexual candidate in a red-leaning state with high veteran population, she certainly can't beat a combat veteran and astronaut, who has raised record sums of campaign dollars from grassroots.

So we're not going to put this into the database?

I think Fox News belongs in the Marist/Quinnipiac category.
