So how do leaners work? Is it if someone says "I don't know" or "I'm not sure", they're presented with "well, if you HAD to choose..."?

I don't understand why we've received so little polling of Ohio. By the 538 averages it's closer than every other state.

Emerson pushes almost all of its leaners although it occasionally seems to leave a handful of voters. They just ask the following of people who picked "undecided" on "Would you vote for X or Y if the election were held today?": "which candidate are you leaning towards at this time?"

Ohio is no longer perceived as being a bellwether state.

I get it, but we are not in 2016 anymore. It's a big state and the data says it's much closer than all of the other states that we've seen a ton of polling from.  The only explanation to me is the lack of a competitive Senate race. NC, GA, TX are not as close as Ohio based on polling averages but they have competitive senate/state legislature races.

Regardless, I'm still shocked at the lack of high quality polling in Ohio.

Quite weird given Emerson only had Biden +4-5 nationally.
