Pelosi? That's an odd inclusion, but to see someone who was previously so unpopular even leading Trump is pretty good news. Though it is still way too early for me to have confidence about this election just from these numbers.

Maybe preparing for the possibility Trump and Pence are removed from office but Trump runs again?

It’s remarkable how prophetic this poll was.

It's almost like 41-42% of the country are locked-in Trumpists and the rest really, really are not.

But yeah, Trump neither lastingly losing nor lastingly gaining support over the entire course of his term really is one of the big political and psephological stories of his presidency, and is something that's never really happened before. Even after mass polarization set in a year or two into Obama's presidency there was a good 15-20% of the country that sometimes liked him and sometimes didn't.

Eh, "all Democrats" in the title of the thread makes it clear it's from a while back, so I don't think this runs a huge risk of confusing most posters.

This is why I hate the "Trump is only losing because of COVID19" talking point.

It would be much closer had Trump dealt competently with COVID-19...

But COVID-19! Sanders would have lost! Biden's only winning because he’s run a flawless campaign! The Generic Congressional Ballot/Trump's approval numbers having been stable for years now is just a coincidence!

Further proof that the two-party system has saved us from becoming Hungary. 42% of Americans are locked-in Trumpists forever and ever. We're very lucky that the entire opposition, the 58%, is unified by default into a single party.

Hungarian democracy is hurting for lots of reasons besides division on the left. Fidesz cracked a majority of the vote in the last election and in previous ones, its fragmented opposition included even more rightwing parties like Jobbik.

Sure, but Trump never deals competently with anything.

But really, that's not what I am talking about. I am talking about COVID-19 never happening at all.

Yeah, as much as I hate to say it, Hungarians are notorious as the most racist and bigoted people in Europe. They vote parties like Fidesz and Jobbik because they actually agree with their policies.

It's more arguable that "Trump is only losing in a landslide (instead of narrowly) because of Covid-19" or "Republicans are only losing the Senate because of Covid-19". We need the full results first before we can properly analyse it though.

I wasn't a fan but now I'm glad Biden is the nominee. He's always been in the best position to beat Trump

Biden has this uncanny ability to grow on people, myself included.
