Quote
The sample was heavily weighted toward Cuban-Americans. Though the latest census is expected to show Florida’s population of Puerto Ricans about equal, they have a notoriously bad record on voter turnout. For this poll, 38% identified as Cuban-American  and 22% as Puerto Rican. An “other” category includes 14% who identified themselves as South American, 8% as Mexican-American, 8% as Central American, and the rest as mixed, other or who declined to be specific.

The poll shows the usual cultural fault lines in measuring politics in the Hispanic community. Trump leads among Cuban-Americans, 71% to 23%. Biden leads among Puerto Ricans, 66% to 23%. Biden also leads among other Hispanics, 62% to 27%.

Yesterday's Univision poll had Biden winning Cubans by 15 points. Certainly more believable than losing them by 50.

I thought Mason-Dixon were good posters for the South.

According to the Miami Herald, Clinton carried the Puerto Rican vote with a final total of around 72 percent.  So depending on the undecideds, etc. etc., the PR vote doesn't account for such a Hispanic swing away from the Democrats in Florida (if one so drastic exists, of course).

But for Hispanics and Cubans specifically? Not so sure. I’d trust Univision for that.

Guess Mason-Dixon wants to embarrass themselves in Florida again.

Trump beat Clinton among Cubans 54-41 so trash the Univision Poll. Those M-D Numbers seem right given that Democrats currently only lead Republicans by 10 Points in VBM/Early In-Person Vote in Miami-Dade.

The Univision poll was nationwide; it is true that Florida Cubans are more Republican than other Cuban communities around the country (there are substantial populations in Georgia, New Jersey, New York and Texas, at least), so Biden+15 with Cubans nationally doesn't mean Biden+15 with Cubans in Florida. Trump+50 is absurd, though; even Hialeah doesn't vote that way.
