i was told biden was going to have a double digit lead on this forum!?

52-45 has been the most likely outcome for awhile now.

No, it’s not.

RCP is 51-43, 538 is 52-42, both are trending back to where they were as the Trump covid diagnosis exits the polling period.

https://echeloninsights.com/in-the-news/october-omnibus-election-2020/

October 16-20
1006 likely voters
Changes with September 19-25

Biden 50% (n/c)
Trump 44% (+3)
Jorgensen 1% (-1)
Hawkins 1% (n/c)
West 0% (-1)
Unsure 3% (-3)

Biden 51% (n/c)
Trump 44% (+1)
Unsure 5% (-1)

They've switched from a "likely voters" model to a "likely electorate" model aiming to capture groups missed by traditional screens such as certain kinds of newly active voters.

It feels like many pollsters are overcompensating for this nonexistent "shy trump voter" effect and they are going to be either very right or very wrong come 11/3.

His 538 average is +9.2 and that's mostly bc we haven't gotten a ton of high quality data recently. +9.2 is within the MoE of double digits?
