Could someone be Governor and Senator at the same time?

This is the first article that appeared when I googled the question, indicating that it could be possible:
Could Mark Warner Be Senator and Governor Simultaneously?

In practice if a sitting Governor is a Senator elect, they either resign as Governor before taking the Senate seat or delay taking the oath as Senator until their gubernatorial term expires. The most recent example of the latter action was Senator Scott of Florida.

I’m thinking not. Huey Long left the senate seat he won empty for a year until his term as governor was over.

Constitutionally, yes, but practically, no.

The federal Constitution itself places no restrictions that would prevent state or local office-holders from simultaneously holding office in any branch of the federal government, but all states have banned dual state & federal mandates, & unlike those state-level attempts to place additional restrictions besides those explicitly provided for in the Constitution with regards to who can serve in Congress (which have been ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court), such bans have been found constitutional because - technically speaking - they pertain to prohibitions on who's allowed to serve at the state & local levels, rather than at the federal level.

If Huey Long couldn't pull it off, tough for anyone else.
