Hopefully, McConnell is entering his last term, and will retire in 2026. This century does not need to be disgraced with his loathsome presence as a public figure longer than it has been and will be.

McConnell will be McConnell's successor in 2026. I think he'll remain too useful for Republicans to lose the leadership and too power-hungry to want to retire when he's still capable of controlling the caucus, which itself is odds-on.
