If Trump hadn't been lying constantly, I’d say that Biden won, but maybe 55-45. But you cannot separate the lies out so Biden won decisively.

That environmental segment was not Biden's best in my opinion. He probably lost votes in Texas.

He isn’t competitive in Texas because of the oil industry.

It could peel off some voters that work in the industry who were about to vote for Biden because Trump's deplorable, but take this as threatening their livelihood.

I work in financial services and I would never vote for Bernie Sanders no matter who his opponent is because he would dismantle my livelihood.

CNN kind of annoying me with their "both sides" crap.

"This is what a debate should sound like"? I don't give a damn, Trump sounded unhinged just at a slightly lower volume.

At least MSNBC is getting past that and getting to the point. Trump lost and sounded especially insane on immigration

Nate Silver: I’ll keep it simple. I think both candidates were much better stylistically than last time. I think Biden was better on the substance, staking out more popular positions, and he’s probably going to have fewer fact-checking problems. Trump needed a big win to turn things around, and I don’t think this was that. Maybe it shores up Trump’s base a bit, or maybe it drives a few more independents to Biden. But this doesn’t seem like the sort of debate that’s going to be a big game changer.

Overall, I don't see this changing many voters' minds.

I really dislike how CNN treats this like a sport by using terms like “score points” or “goal”

Their coverage reminds me a lot of pro wrestling reporting.

"Both candidates did a good job sticking to the script"
"Biden didn't get himself over by talking about oil"
"A couple botches here-and-there but a three star event overall"
"Trump got some advice from his trainers and it seemed to have paid off tonight"

I think I agree, but I do believe it solidifies whatever soft Trump support there is left.

CBS post-debate poll came out at 10:58 last debate, so we should expect it within the next twenty minutes or so (I think this debate lasted a bit longer).

They know that treating politics like a sport is the best way to drive up clicks and make money.

All of their decisions revolve around making $$$

I only like politics as a spectator sport. Seeing the other side cry is sweeter than winning.

That's because Trump talked over his time much more often than Biden.

So if your favorite football team commits more penalties, do you get mad at the referees for throwing more flags?

I just rewatched it and he said “go ahead”.

Yep, definitely "go ahead". You can tell based on his intonation.

What difference, at this point, does it make? Does Trump acting the picture of presidential in the last two weeks do what? Put Texas back in his column? Maybe? Who cares about this crap
